win 98 re install

If i run win 98 cd in dos and re-install it over the exisiting version will i loose any of my data, e.g. word docs and email accounts etc?

Backup your data and do a complete format and a complete install.

if you restore with selecting DO NOT FORMAT HARDRIVE you will still have your programs on your computer

Not recommended.

The programs have to beinserted into the windows registry when they are installed.

The programs will not work properly is you do it that way.
