|
|
My friend has been having this problem for a while now, but he just told me about two or three days ago. I have seen this problem before, but I cannot remember how to fix it.
When his computer starts up, he is taken to a black screen with white text that asks him to choose if he wants to start up with Windows Professional or Windows Home. There is a timer under that that goes from about 30 seconds and counts down to 0, I believe.
Anyone know how to fix this? I did a Google search, but typing in both "Professional" and "Home" turns up way too many results that I cannot sort through.
Thanks,

| I had a similar problem except for some reason i had the choice between two windows xp home editions. I couldn't get rid of it and finally I had to format the drive. But there is probably a better way to fix it, so don't resort to formatting yet. |

Honestly, the better fix is the clean slate.
Formatting the drive and a fresh install has a lot of benefits. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Isn't there any other way around this other than a clean format?

Not that I know of.
Clean the slate, it only takes about 30 minutes to format and install windows again. _________________ Owner & Administrator

I got it to work!
Here's how:
Start > settings > control panel > system > advanced tab > then startup and recovery and choose default operating system then take the tick out of \"Display list of operating sytems for...\"
Thanks anyway! |

keep in mind however, that there are two OS's on that system. if one is not needed, then certainly a clean format would leave you with a lot less wasted space. _________________ i'm the fool, he's the fanboy. together we are Fanboy and Fool... Tweaknews Reviewers |
