For example, if I go to PlanetHalflife.com I can open the first page just fine in either browser. But if I click a link to go to another page on teh site, It loads the backround color and teh status bar at teh bottom of the screen reads "Opening page..." in IE and "Transfering data from xxx.com..." But it never loads. If I hit the back button it does the same thing with the page it had previously loaded fine. This happens for loads of sites.

Do any of you have any ideas? This is driving me crazy. I'm thinking about reformatting just to fix this one damn problem.

Please let me know. Thanks.

Sorry, but it sounds like most of those sites just aren't compatable with Firefox =(

Thats the way TN used to be until we got that fixed

try clearing your internet cache. Firefox works with almost all sites. There are very few that it doesnt work with JW. Have you scanned for spyware lately? Try using adaware second edition, and spybot search and destroy. www.majorgeeks.com has them both.

i was thinking possibly a proxy go installed on the system.....adaware won't remove it tho....
in IE, tool -> internet options -> connections -> LAN settings, uncheck anything here.
in firefox
about:config in the address bar works wonders you can change a lot of crap in here... check the proxies listed here

also this might help, i posted it a while back on my forum, if any of you frequent there....
How To Speed Up Firefox

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit
return. Scroll down and look for the following
entries:

Alter the entries as follows:

2.A) Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

2.B) Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

2.C) Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some
number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at
once.

2.D). Lastly right-click anywhere and select New->
Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set
its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the
browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

could it be that your server is blocking certain things? That's what my work place is doing.

You are behind an ISA server....you will have many things blocked that may or may not make sense to you. Take these issues up with your network admin.
BTW...ISA server is a M$ product which screams "HACK ME," to certain types.
