|
|
I just build up my whole new dream machine, and with AIW 9800 Pro, i m so regret of having it. Now i have everything up, with Hyundai Q17 20ms kick ass LCD, i found that AIW seems to hv big problem with my computer. I m using O4 2.8 HT, with corsair XMS 3299 512MB, and Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
. I found out that it's have big graphic problem with all the games such as Vice City n CS. The graphic seems to have lines n boxes and it have terrible views. I do upgrade of drivers from ATI webiste but still having problem. I don't know what's going wrong, and i hope some1 here may provide some good suggestion or analysis about this problem. Is it driver issues or hardware pro ? I use DVI btw. Thx a lot every1 ! |

It's just a configuration problem i think. If in doubt, go ask for a exchange and get anotehr card and see if the problem still occurs.
have yuo tried changing the resolution in the game?..another thing is LCDs are NOT made for games, so that might be another problem you are encountering.

There should be long than 15 days for an exchange, that's not cool.
go to the ATI website and talk to their customer support.
Also update the the videocard drivers and the motherboard BIOS to the latest version.
Does it happen only in one game , or all the games? _________________ Owner & Administrator

I know you folks dont want to here this but the 9800
Pro radeon cards are very touchy with the heat they produce.
I purchased the ati 9800pro128mb version Oct.15.03(upgrade from 8500le)
Installation and Driver upgrade was seemless.
For those who are wondering if these 2nd generation cards are worth the upgrade.........well all i have to say is,the (the second generation 9800pro/XT/AIW is like going from Night to Day (VHS to DVD)(TAPE to CD).
Back to topic: After about 4 hours of adjusting settings, testing my previous games and tweaking i was very satified with my upgrade.
Then the eneviditable happened. After playing Colin Mcrea 2.0 with settings to MAX resolutions and maxed details. for about 20 mins, with perfect frame rates....Bang!!! i herd my CPU fans decrease speed for about 3,4 secs then i my screen started (showed) garrbled green checkers in the background of my 3D graphics. So i said to myself wow this cards amazing but i 'll have to set my Overclocked settings back to defaults settings. So i did that and with no avail the screen was stil
F%#ked.so after about 20 hrs of adjusting settings upgrading Mobo software and bios and reseaching the problem with out fixing it ....My Conclusion was and is this! the 9xxx sereis cards are in there own way(factory default) are already overclocked by there makers. So once we tweak it (overclock them) the card is at high risk of burning out. And almost guaranteed will burn out. So to solve my problem I return the card with an exchange of another 9800 pro, before install. I hooked an old fan from my old PIII cpu and siliconed it to the back of the VPU (four little dabs of adhesive on each corner of fan)witch is on the top when placed in Pc case, for extra heat displasment. Updated to Cat 3.7 software seening as the Cat 3.8 software somehow taxes the VPU/MEM to burn out. After doing this i purchased Halo Pc maxed out settings and resolutions and seemlessly played Halo from 10:00pm to 5:30 am with maybe a total of about 10 frame drops in a total of 6 1/2 hours....These cards are amazing but its discouraging after paying 500$ for the card i had to mod it myself to prevent it from burnig out...But if you were to put a 400horse power hemmy in your Ford Tempo i think there would be some Modifacations needed also!!!!.....But any way If your card displays Green checkers or garble images its ( BACK to the DRAWING BOARD for you!!) Good Luck folks...
