guys,

i have a p4p800 dlx in win xp pro. From the Device Manager - Under IDE/ATAPI controllers - i have the Intel 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage Controller.

im just wondering whether i shld have the Intel 82801ER controller instead.

read somewhere that 82801EB is ICH5 whreas 82801ER is ICH5R - since the p4p800 is ICH5R im wondering why i dont have the 82801ER installed. i previously had win2k pro and it was still the same.

Below is a report from CPU-z utility - IS something wrong with my Southbridge?

That is rather odd. Is that the latest version of CPU-Z?

I'm surprised to see it calling your board an 865-based board. Maybe thats the problem.

1) used wcpuid to just check and it does not recognise my chipset...it says unidentified smthg and whether i want to report it.

2) you know the asus windows bios update program, well i cant install it-it bloody says no asus mb detected and just quits.....im goin like wht the .....

i wasnt gonna use that win prog to update bios but for it to say no asus mb...damn...im pisd

anyway been having more current probs like havin to find a way to activate my win xp :) finally managed - hope it works...
