Great forum!!!

Alright, here's the problem... I've done a search on this forum about right click issues, but I haven't found an answer to my problems.

I have installed a program called WindowBlinds (changes desktop themes/styles etc etc), and it's made my XP experience much more interesting... : ) but... one of the profiles/layouts has messed with my right-click menu and now I seem to have SEARCH as the default action for folders. Now, in order for me to browse a folder, I have to right-click and select open or explore, otherwise it opens the search menu.

I understand that I need to go to the Folder Options -> File Types section under the Tools menu option, and need to look at Folder and File Folder defaults. For Folders, I've selected Open as the default action and for File Folder, the only available action is Find.

Is there a way to manually change the order of the right-click menu layout?

Hey sniperdoc,
How's it going?

Yes, finally there's someone I can help out =P I've been leeching way too much on these forums, and finally I can legitimately help someone else... haha.

Anyway, try this, and let me know if that works:
1) Go to Start -> Run -> type regedit.
2) Locate and then click the Default value under the following keys in the registry if this problem occurs with folders:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell

If this problem occurs with drives:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell

3) Click Modify on the Edit menu.
4) Type none in the Value data box, and then click OK.
5) Quit Registry Editor.

Hope that helps,

Thanks man... I had found an answer on another tweak site.. think it was tweakxp.com or something... but, thanks for the help.

I'm just amazed at how jumbled the registry is that there's no simple key like rmenu or rightmenu or something similar. That way you could look in 1 single place for modifications for that stuff... hell... put a control panel app up that lets you modify the right click menu!!! :)

Again thanks

Reasons why it probably isn't that simple:
-That would make Windows too easy to use.
-Microsoft would never do such a thing anyway.

However, there are programs that you can download, many of them freeware, that will allow you to sort out your registry a lot easier.

Of course that would also make it too easy to. COMPLETELY hose your system.
