ATI will not warranty or even look at a card that comes out of a Dell computer. Dell won't look at it unless you are the original owner either. Basically if it breaks down....U R Screwed. Bottom Line, DO NOT buy an Ati video card that comes out a Dell computer.

Don't buy ANYTHING that comes out of a Dell Computer. :)

Heck anything that you buy out of A computer should scream Caveat Emptor. especially since companies like Dell, Gateway, Acer, HP/Compaq, are all known for using proprietary parts. If you don't know what you're getting into... don't buy it. I have a friend who tried to save ten bucks by taking the ethernet card out of his Dell.... uhm... THAT went well... *rolls eyes*

Don't blame ATI for this problem. Dell bought the cards from them and they are the people that hold the warrenty for the card.

Dell is the problem here.

You should read about the class-action lawsuits coming out of everywhere on them.

Melting computers, shitty service, bad warrenties, rude employees, improper price postings on their website.

LOL!!!

That's why they have those commercials...

"Dude, your getting a Dell!"
No Houdini or magic hat with rabbit there...

All I can say is buyer beware!

If your not gonna build your own rig, get someone to do it for you, even the neighborhood PC shop. DON'T USE A COOKIE CUTTER MACHINE!
You'll be sorry!

Yes, always get a computer made from name brand parts.

OEM computer builders make computers out of cheap generic bargin bin components.

If you buy a dell, Compaq, IBM or any of them, they may be a little cheaper with all those specials, but see if the computer will last more than a year without a single problem.

We sell Compaqs down at the shack and I was looking at the specs.... I built a BETTER computer than what was in that box for 70 bucks less. More RAM, faster chip, better name brand drives.

I used to be on a HP Turkey, i810 chipset, Don't know model number, why should I remember?

Anyway I tried putting in a GeForce2 MX 200 2 years ago when I was a complete n00b to computers. I spent maybe 3 months researching, doing whatever these sites tell me, even HP said I can add a new card.

Kinda tough when they disabled it in CMOS and removed the physical jumper..

So, I got over it a year later and built me a rig.
