i'm getting my entire system from ivo.
the only thing i did not purchase from ivo was my matrix orbital mx 222... simply because they wouldn't set him up as a distributor so i had to get it elsewhere.

ivo's great. fantastic service, great prices and he's a hell of a nice guy. he told me that his distributors can't get the ATI AIW 9700 Pro for a month, and i told him i'll wait... i won't buy it from anyone else.

in my office, i'm constantly getting people asking me where to buy hardware and ever since i first walked into ivo's, i've been referring them to him.

:)

The volcano 7+ all copper cooler should do nicely.

i was just talking to ivo and he was telling me he's had a lot of complaints about that one due to the noise. i'd also read online that it is loud, however no real complaints seeing as most people want the extra cooling (so the noise is acceptable).
he's got a vantec aeroflow VA4-C7040 and that's a fairly decent cpu cooler. it is a little noisy as well (albeit not in the same catagory as the volcano), and i'll just hook it up to my digitaldoc 5 to keep the fan speed down a notch. i'm thinking of going that route instead of the thermaltake.

i asked him to set it aside as well as a tube of AS3. mobo and chip are in, and he's got a lead on an AIW 9700 pro for an extra $10 (the extra expense is worth it so i don't have to wait a month for the video card).

Roger, I bought the Spark 7+ Xaser edition...
my P4 2.4c OCed is at 21 deg C....

It's loud when I have it cranked to 6k RPM, but I can run it at 2.5k to 3.5k RPM (Very quiet) and my CPU wont go over 28 Deg C.

The copper fins go along way to dissipate a lot of heat, the fan moves a whole bunch o air too! hehe

just my two cents worth.

bout normal
20 deg C
Just finished a Prime95 run for 3 hours...
CPU never went over 33 deg C when OCed (but had fan at 5.5k)

And yep, whent he fan is between 2.k and 3.5k the CPU is never hotter than 28 OCed.
(I use Arctic Silver 3 in generous helpings)

What can I say! hehe, unless MBM is lying LOL (I get the same readings with Asus Probe)

P.S I have plenty of case cooling (3x 80mm upper CFM fans + HDD Cooler + PSU drawing air)

I should bring my rig to my ventilation lab, I would LOVE to test the overall air flow through the case, might be able to come up with some neat cooling schemes! HEHE

And one more piece of info which I should have mentioned! LOL
I crank the fan to 6k when I'm in games... hehe
Hope I didnt cause to much turmoil! haha

20C = 68F. Thats not normal room temp. Normal room temp is like 72F (22C). Close I suppose.

Somehow I doubt your getting 21C since that is like 70F. Not possible without some incredible cooling methods like water cooling. 28C is only 82.4F and I doubt even that for an OC temp.

Check to see what your BIOS says, because those temps cannot be right.

Thanks CoolJoe!
I checked my BIOS temp, and ran a statistical test...

You were right, the actual temp of my CPU is higher than what is reported via MBM and Asus Probe. Not by much tho...

I ran a test the following test this morning:
Ran my PC for 10 minutes @ 2785RPM the temp values registered between 30 deg C and 31.5 deg C (Mostly steady at 31.5 Deg C)

Ran my PC for 10 minutes @ 3456 RPM, temp varied between 29 and 30.5 Deg C (Steady mostly at 30 Deg C)

So, I was off by a few degs, hehe, When I get home I'm going to rerun the test for a longer period of time and do some statistical analysis on it, figure out the Weighted Mean and Standard Error, then come up with a good approximation for software temp monitoring and actual temp.

Sorry if I'm going overboard, I'm an engineer so I do things to the extreme! haha

I'll let you know what I figure out...
I appologize if I mislead anyone on the original posting of the temp. =)

Its no mislead for others. I'm just trying to make sure that your temp monitors are accurate or not.

When I first had my setup running, my BIOS would show 100F and MBM would show 120F. Had me curious. Now they both show the same value, so all is well.

I have a volcano 9, and have never had a reason to bump it up to full speed....
It does just fine at the lower speeds on my overclocked XP 2800.

it is fairly quiet too...
i would definately recommend it
