What kind of mics?
If you're talking a 3 pin, balanced mic, you're losing quality just adapting it to plug it into the audigy (Balanced XLR to unbalanced 1/4" to unbalanced 1/8")......adding a splitter will degrade the quality that much more. You also won't have any control over individual mics.
You could use a small mixer, like a Behringer, that would preserve the quality, but it's still not gonna be great.

yep, i have 2 XLR mics with 1/8th adapters... i'm doing a little DJ thing ...all computer-based ( too lazy to learn the real stuff - scratching and all). I guess a mixer wouldn't be a bad idea.... how much would something like that go for? ust baought a crap load of effects lighting so the pocket book is feeling the sting... _________________ DFI Nforce 4 SLI-DR

I'm not aware of any outboard DJ systems for computer, most are software based.
Connecting the mixer to your computer........you'd just run a cable from the Left/Mono main output to the line in on your computer card. And yes, you can put pretty much any audio source into a mixer, you just need to adjust the gain. If you're looking for a more professional setup, I'd look for a better mic preamp setup, and bypass your Soundblaster. They're just not made for quality recording work. More money, but far better results. Taking a balanced XLR signal down to unbalanced is never really a good idea, you'll be hearing hums, any power noise around, and quite possibly passing CB radios. _________________ Big enough to scare you |

Wouldn't you just need a scratch pad with audio in (from the comp) and audio out (to the speakers)? or am i off? _________________ DFI Nforce 4 SLI-DR

Wait.......there is something, I believe by........Voodoo Labs? Not sure anymore, but I remember seeing it a couple of years ago. Plugged in via USB, had two "turntables", worked with MP3 files, and could be used for other stuff as well.
Wait........it's by Hercules, here's a link.

Thanks Fuss.....
you think there's a way to mix a regular headset mic (regular mono miniplug) to plug into an XLR-equipped broadcast camera? It would be nice to have a narration headset with that setup. Any way it can be done? or maybe you know of some XLR headset mics? _________________ DFI Nforce 4 SLI-DR

There's quite a few headset mics available, from Shure, Audio Technica, Audix, Senheiser.......prices start at about $60 and go on up to $500 for a top-notch wireless setup. It all depends on the quality you want.
You can use your other one, sure, but you'll have to have two adapters (again), a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter, then a 1/4" to XLR impedance adapter. With that many adapters, the plug will be about 6" long, and fall out alot. _________________ Big enough to scare you |
