|
|
It happened shortly after I installed drivers for my new logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. A few days later, my comp crapped out. It wasn't able to output to my monitor. I also had tried to install a liquid cooler for my motherboard memory controller hub. Recently, the day after i installed the drivers for the keyboard and mouse on my laptop, the same thing happened.
I don't even get my bios splash screen. What is going on? I'll post more info soon. |

| No screen image at all? Try to locate your CMOS battery take it out for a good 5mins, to let everything reset, put it back in and see if it'll boot. |

Use a normal mouse and keyboard so you can take it out of the situation.
I am thinking this problem could have been caused by the northbridge cooler you installed. _________________ Owner & Administrator

I'd say it's most likely the cooler, but for the fact that it happened to my laptop as well. I'll try the CMOS battery for my desktop. Any suggestions for the laptop? If I have to I can return it to Dell to get fixed, I have a warranty, but that would be a pain in the butt.
Thanks! |

| Okay, an update. I'm back from my vacation in Boston, and I'm trying to fix my comps. The home-made desktop (Xerxes) didn't do any better when I inserted teh windows XP install disk to boot from. As soon as I finish eating I will try removing the cmos battery. I'll keep you posted. Is there any chance I can screw something up by removing the battery? |

| Did you make sure that the computer was completely unplugged from any power source while the cmos battery was out? |

The same thing happened to my pc, i think it couldve possibly been static... cause when i reloaded comp the monitor was blank so i did a minimal bootup with 1 stick of ram and diff graphics card but still no luck... it turned out my cpu burned and needed 2 get new mobo as well .
Hope ur problem wont come 2 that... _________________ AMD64 3200+
