I was wondering if there is some kind of way to where I can get the Run command in my Task bar? Sence I use "RUN" so much this would be a bad ass Idea.

yes and no. The best you could do is do a drop menue of often used programs or commands given. don't think you can get a true shortcut to it.....easily anyway

Huh, in Xp, I just right click dragged it to my task bar and told it to create short cut. Just like any other command.

You could also make a batch file and route it to a specific key (or combo of keys) very helpful for common tasks!

Exactly, the OS might not be as stable or secure as linux revisions, but its got THE best GUI out there. Click and drag the run command icon wherever you need it.

It does not work if you are using classic start menu tho so set it to "start menu" > create shortcut and set it back to classic if you prefer the clasic interface

Close.... I dont want the shortcut in the task bar. I want to be able to type the text into the bar. Kind of like how you can have an adress bar in there.

How bout this... Put the address bar on. Unlock the task bar and possition it where ya want it.. right click and uncheck the "show title" then lock the task bar once u have it the size and position you want it. After that you've got a simple text box with GO next to it. Clean, simple, and effective. I tested it with commands such as msconfig and regedit. Seemed to work fine. Don't know exactly what all commands you use.

yup thats a nice feature of the taskbar, quite useful for media too, but unfortuantley it only supports WMP series...and i dont use it.

I find it gets a bit crowded, but still useful!

lol WOW Thanks everyone! Have to admit that I never thought of the idea myself till I read this post. Ran upstairs (to my computer) and started fiddling. It does seem to be a pretty nice little feature to have down there on the taskbar. :)

Anyways glad I could help. I think I'll be stickin around here a while.

Why not just use Win+R? (The windows key and R pressed together).

Absolutely no desktop space used and no mouse needed at all. :)

I have the address/run bar in my taskbar as well. I have for a long time now. I love it there, it's simply convienient. Works for all sorts of things (dos prompt, notepad, regedit, web addresses, browsing other PC's on the network, etc). have my taskbar vertically on the left, so the text box doesn't actually take up all that much room. Windows' GUI isn't -that- bad. (*cough*). You just have to sort of bend it over a bit and show it who's boss.
There are lots of other advanced GUI tweaks you can find in the registry.
Wouldn't advise changing things too extensively unless you know what you're doing, though.
