|
|
Here's some photos of my new P4 rig. I actually remembered to take pics while building- which is a first. Enjoy- these are thumbnails to make loading times shorter.
My old case (right) with my new case (left). You may remember the old one in my "cable management" thread in this section.

As you can see, my new setup is much cleaner looking with far less clutter. In fact, here's a comparison:

I also used sound dampening material throughout (all that black stff on the case) to help minimize noise and any possible vibrations. It does a good job- I'm pleased so far.
I think my hidden drive went pretty well for my first attempt. I only have a single drive right now, but will add another in the future.
Give me some feedback and ideas. Thanks |

Well, you're no photographer, but you did a great job building that computer. Congrats man. HUGE improvement from what you had before.
Oh yeah... I like the dual monitor action with Tweaknews up on the right...
What kind of fans are you using in that? Only the lit ones? Or did you take some from the old rig? _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

I would ask if you are pleased with the set up, but http://img77.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img77&image=pb2500565xu.jpg explains it i think.....not very good hey?

Well, I am no photographer for certain- but I blame the cheap camera too.
As for fans- they are all new. I went with 4 80mm Arctic Cooling 3 speed fans with blue LED lights (1 in front, 2 on side, 1 in back). They are pretty quiet for 4 fans, huge improvement in noise levels from the old beast. Airflow is much better too with the cables being cleaned up. |

Don't even offer Lol. No more.
Looking very nice man. How's that new case doing with the temps? Can you comment on its quality? _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

As far as temps go- I usually get 55C CPU and 45C board temp. I don't think thats too bad, as far as the board goes, since the northbridge has only a heatsink with no fan.
As far as quality goes, it is decent. It came solid and pretty well built. Being aluminum, the thumbscrews that hold most of the case together can only be torqued by hand- using a screwdriver could strip the aluminum holes. But I suppose that is pretty much the case with most aluminum cases. The only thng I didn't like about the case was the drive bay covers. They are all aluminum and don't fit tight - since they aren't as springy as plastic or steel. I had to add a bunch of dampening to the ones I wasn't going to use to keep them solid and from rattling. It was pretty tight otherwise, and things fit well. Also- it houses about the same amount of stuff as my old setup. The old rig was 40lbs compared to 30lbs for this one. Significant weight difference, especially considering the sound dampening I added.
Overall- hard to beat for $40 for fit and smooth style. |

I don't mean to a critic here. You did an AWESOME job.. but you may want to consider moving one of those fans. Thats three intakes to one exhaust. Or maybe just put another one in. Just a thought. _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

| No, actually its not. One in front and the top one on the side above the cpu are inputs. One in back and the bottom one on the side near the video card are outputs. So, along with the psu, that's three outpus and two inputs. |
