Great review...question: Would I need these smart fans to use with a fan speed controller?
My Xaser III will come with a Hardcano 10, which I'll eventually upgrade to a 13, I believe...anyway I'm going to replace most, if not all, of the included smartfans with LED fans...so I'm just asking if I need the smartfans for the controller, or if I can go cheap with plain old LED fans. _________________

If my understanding is correct, then if you used a smart fan w/ a fan controler, you would be setting the maximum speed of the fan [ with the fan controler] . Then, with the smart fan's SMART-ness, it would decided if it can and will go any SLOWER. I'd just rock the standaard LED fans myself....seems redundant otherwise.
Also, I am not sure if it is harmful to reduce the voltage to a smart fan (with the sensors it has and what not)

Ahhh...see, I was thinking that
1. I wouldn't be ale to adjust a 'normal' fan's speed, thus the need for
Smartfans.
2. I was gonna use the 3rd option...you control the speed, but instead
of using the PCI bay controller, I'd use the Hardcano. I know how the
auto-temp probe thing works...that's what I use with my Volcano9.
Any ideas about that? _________________

Spieg, I'd Say that you'd be best off running Normal fans off the Hardcano. If you insist on using the thermal probe, be VERY careful of where you put it. Having one probe control multiple fans means some trial and error on placement of your probe. _________________ |¤| |

I think that would be a great combo. Let me know how it works out. At the lowest speed, the fan is virtually silent and moves a lot of air.
Hows the foot? |
