My power supply has just enough 4 pin connectors for all of the stuff in there right now, including hard drive and optical drives. I'm planning on sticking a cathode light in there, and I think it's gonna need a 4 pin connector. There are three serial ATA power connectors (I think that's what they are) which I don't use. I'm sure one could just stick on an adapter, but would it be better to just chop off the Serial ATA connector and attach a 4 pin one?

Your advice? Thanks!

Why don't you get a ccfl that has the 4pin adapter built onto it? Don't some of them come that way?

Good idea, I'll take a look. I also just noticed that the ATA ones have five wires and the 4 pins have four, so an adaptor, built in or otherwise, sounds like the way to go.

Thank you!

to gain more 4 pin connections you can add a 4 pin Y splitter.

he could do that but if he puts the cold cathode on the serial ata connection it will have a dedicated branch and will not mess with anything else.
