Can someone reccomend a good replacement fan for my GeForce 2 GTS? It just died on me today.

And how do I go about getting the HSF off? I think they used crazy glue on it or something...

Thanks in advance...

Hey,

Heres an easy way to remove your HSF.. Well 2 ways actually...

One is to use a hair dryer. Just blow some heat over it for a while and let the compound soften up..

Another, (more dangerous so use caution,) is to boil some water and sit it over the steam... However easier to remove, this requires the use of a fan or hair dyrer to make sure the card is free of liquid before use again.

I would check your connections on your fan, it may be an easy fix. Use a voltage meter, if you dont have one, just touch the ends of an LED or another fan to the connection to see if you are getting power on the card.

Theres some help I hope.

Yep, there is power to the fan (checked with LED) and the fan doesn't spin. There is a good fan connection to the board as I used the original wires from the on board connector and spliced in the middle of the leads.

Now that I got it off, can someone suggest a good one, or could I get away with a simple chipset HSF??

Thanks in advance...

Just replace the fan with a 40mm fan. You don't have to replce the whole thing.

Thanks all for the help. Got it fixed.. I needed some tape/epoxy to adhere the HSF with, while I was out, I found a small blorb.. It was 10$, so I picked it up.. It was a little lighter than the HSF I was going to replace it with, so I felt it a bit safer with the lighter one, plus, it looks good in the case.

Thanks for all the help...
