Here are the temps for my 3400+ at idle and at load, with all fans at 5v air cooled at the moment, using a TT Silent tower with two 92mm tornados one at both ends.
PWM is the powersupply, which a thermaltake Butterfly with the fans set to low (17db 1000rpm), _________________ If time is of the essence,

http://www.tweaknews.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3866
this thread has pics of my current cooling setup
all in all, i have a 120mm front intake at 120cfm, an 80 on the side intake at 80cfm, one intake at the top at 80cfm, two in the back at 80cfm each, and the psu moves around 20. The CPU cooler moves around 160cfm through the heatsink
in all i have some 120 in front (forgot brand) 4 80mm tornados, and 2 92mm tornado's (i'm running em all at 5v) the heatsink is the silent tower from thermaltake on an amd64 3400+ 2.4ghz. When the tower slid down my cpu was hitting around 60C, could actually read socket 754 off the socket that much was showing, only had about 3/4 of an inch worth of heatsink touching, i have since strung it in place. _________________ If time is of the essence,

bout 100$ or so fans and all...
the only problem is the weight, and while it will work in some socket A mobo's you have to pay attention to the direction that it mounts. _________________ If time is of the essence,
