Yeah well that might be a stretch, since HL2 is yet to be released, but damn San Andreas is fun as hell. My friend got it yesterday, and we played it all day after school. I don't have a PS2, but will probably get one as soon as I can just for this game (and Burnout 3, and MGS:3

) The map for San Andreas is so damn big, the first city you start out in, Los Santos, is almost twice as big as Vice City. This game is amazing, anyone else played it yet?

Do they have that for PC too? I only have Gamecube and a PC.

My nominees for GOTY 2004 for PC games would have to be:

Doom 3
Star Wars Battle Front
Warhammer Dawn of War
Joint Operations

..other than those I feel they really haven't had a real big original hit out this year, I hope between now and 2005 they release a winner. Really most of my nominees are different variations of older games.

Id have to say doom3, is the best for this year, too bad HL2 isnt out yet, and we still have yet to wait for halo 2

Doom3 sucks in my humble opinion.
Can't eblieve nobody mentioned FarCry yet....must be becuase they haven't played it..

i just got GTA:SA just yesturday. man this game rocks, i played for 4 hours( i know, thats sad), love everything, also see an improvement in the graphics. looks like another big hit. yea i agree doom 3 sucks, the game gets repetitive. HL2 and Halo 2, cant wait... but as of now GTA:SA takes the spot for best game, as of now.

I must say I too was disappointed with Doom3. Farcry was fantastic. I also liked COD United Offensive. However, I like UT2004 the most because it's the only game I've had that long and still have fun playing it everytime.

Far Cry without a doubt. Ordering GTA:SA tonight or tomorow, but UT2004 is definately one of my favourites...would say COD, but that was last year.

I still think the original Half Life had some AWESOME AI, Those damn Grunts could lob grenades with incredible accuracy

Yeah... the original HL was one of the best games of all time, IMHO. It wasn't you're average shooter... it was the thinking man's shooter, I think.
The AI for the marines was scary. They used real marine tactice, you couldn't just hole up behind cover... they'd send two guys to flank you while one lobbed auto-grenades at you to keep you pinned. Sick.
And I loved the fact that it wasn't your typical "Super-Soldier against a vast alien armada" story. You're a -research scientist-. You start the game with nothing but your pocket protector. Eventually you get... *gasp* a crowbar.
I've played the single start to finish waaay too many times to count.
Too bad my 9000 doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of running HL2.
