I just had to spend £43. 32p on a NEW wiper stalk switch for my car.
I went to the local scrap yard, but they did'nt have one that was in any useable shape. So I had to buy a new one from the company that made them. It's "supposed" to be coming tomorrow, though more likely in a few days. BAH!

£43 on a switch!, man that SUCKS. but it had to be done, when it rains I have to jam a screwdriver into the broken switch to make the wipers work. Not something easy to do when driving. Also did'nt want to have to explain to the police WHY there is a screwdriver sticking out of the plastic cowl right next to the ignition switch. I doubt the police would belive that I DIDN'T just Steal the car.

GRRRRR that just put a nice dent into the new comp project funds.

well from the sound of it the police might understand the screw driver in the column if they look at the whole car. As the best thet deterant is to have a car that no-one wants to steal. hehe

Man that is expensive for that switch but I guess if you need it you will pay for it.

That is an expensive switch. It's better to have a working one when you need it though. Don't worry about your computer funds. We've all invested way to much in this stuff anyway.

Yep!

I live near to the "fell" (an area where there are LOTS of pubs in one small street.) and the Police are often out in force looking for problems at the weekends. Not good if you have a car that looks like it's stolen and has a cannabis leaf on he roof. Might as well have a neon sign that says "please Nick me!".

Ah well, it's given me an idea how to make some money on e-bay though, some mini parts are worth quite a bit.

Ahh well, at least it's one less problem with the car, just the brakes and steering to sort out next.
At least the other parts are cheap should be about £500 to have the running gear, subframe, suspension all sorted and replaced by the garage. not too bad.

That doesn't sound all too bad. Are you doing most of the work yourself?

I'll be doing some of the smaller bits, but I'll leave the engine lifting and drive train up the my local garage. The parts for the mini are really cheap, they are quite hard wearing too. the bodywork of the car is usually where all the problems and MOT test fails come in on the scene. With the mini all the engine, suspension and drive assembly are mounted to a single front subframe, so fixing any important bits can be done fairly easy.

My car is just worn out after 9 years of weekend thrashing up country roads.

Well, just had a phone call to say the wiper switch just came in. YAYYYY!!!11one. Should have that hooked into the wiring loom by tonight.

All done and dusted.
Took me 10 seconds to fit the switch, and an 20mins to get the wires plugged and wraped into the wiring loom. I't nice to have working wipers again.

Still need to replace the fuse for that circuit, its way over rated, not going to risk a fire. prolly get that done tonight. Now I gota find all the bits of the cowl that fits over the switches and assemble all the the other bits I took off to fix other minor problems while I was at it.

Next up: the rubber suspension / sub frame mounts.
