ATI Coupon Holders Win Bronze
Following up on the Steam packages we reported yesterday, forum member pinnappe e-mailed Steam technical support about which package ATI coupon holders would be entitled to. Here was the reply:The ATI coupon vouchers will be transfered automatically to the Bronze Package. We will be offering upgrades to silver and gold for additional cost, but the details have not been fully worked out yet.Bronze it is — which means HL2 and CS:Source only. As stated, you can upgrade your package (by most probably paying the price difference). This would seem to suggest that purchasers could upgrade other HL2 Steam packages (e.g. Silver to Gold) but no official word on that yet.

pooey, i wanted that gold!

Weird though. It says that everyone with a HL2 coupon will get the bronze package. I don't like that if it means downgrading

You can get a cd of the game or download a version of it. I chose the download b/c I have broadband and don't care to pay for the shipping of the game.

Should I pre-load Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike Source?

I have an ATi Coupon. What games will I get?
º The Bronze Package which includes Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike Source.

When will I be able to play my games?
º Counter-Strike: Source will be unlocked next week. This means you can play the full version of CS:S within another week!

º Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 1: Source do not have release dates yet.

If I purchase a package through Steam, will Valve mail me the game on CD or DVD format?
º No

Does Half-Life 2 have a multi-player option?
º Counter-Strike: Source

What maps are available in Counter-Strike: Source once it is released?
º cs_havana
º cs_italy

heres some info on hl1: source
http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34607

Quote:
HL2Fallout member, target_practice, recently e-mailed Valve's Gabe Newell for information on Half-Life: Source requesting a comparison shot between Half-Life and Half-Life Source. Doug Lombardi replied with these images:
Before http://www.halflife2.net/news//1093618899_hls2.jpg

After http://www.halflife2.net/news//1093618899_hls1.jpg

As you can see, despite the game not getting a complete overhaul like Counter-Strike: Source has, the game still looks considerably better in the Source engine. The noticable differences will be the addition of world and ragdoll physics, the shader system, dynamic lights and shadows.

November 23 Release?
Reports of a late November release for HL2 are popping up on gaming news sites
left - http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=56770
right - http://gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=4699
and centre - http://www.computerandvideogames.com/news/news_story.php(que)id=109912
The story originated in this Eurogamer article
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=56770
which claimed that VUG told its retail partners in the UK that HL2 is expected to be released on November 23rd in the US and three days later in Europe. However, the number of anonymous "sources" being cited in these articles and Valve's reaffirmation that they "do not have a release date from VUG" casts some level of doubt on the developments — we'll keep you updated.

Quote:
In a response to this morning's speculation that Vivendi is now setting release dates for late November with retailers, PC Zone/Computer And Video Games are reporting information after speaking with a Vivendi rep:
Quote:
Quote:
"Last week we received a Half-Life 2 release candidate from Valve, and in its current state Half-Life 2 is brilliant and looks astonishing," a Vivendi spokesperson went on to talk about the current status of the game, saying: "Vivendi Universal Games is in the midst of determining whether Half-Life 2 meets the gameplay standard of the company and more importantly the devoted Half-Life fanbase."

The news story goes on to say that Vivendi are hopeful of announcing a release date to the public very soon. They also state that their own retail sources reckon a late November release date as being "highly feasable".

It certainly doesn't seem as though the game is gold yet, but it looks as though it will shortly.

We'll keep you posted.

I don't really know what you just said. . . there is too much wrong with that post. HALO2 comes out 09/11/04 in the US and should be out a few days later in the UK (12/11/04).

HL2 . . . there still isn't an official release date. So far, it only seems to be rumors out.
