That seems a little low (just a little) for what you have. Have you reformatted your hard drive yet? Do you run alot of programs in the background.
The score is perfectly fine. Forgive me for wanting to get a little more out of it. . . the Tweakers way. Frag away! _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

well with sandra you maynot get "real" readings. The best way to check that kind of stuff is either with Motherboard Monitor5 (which I dont know if it supports your mobo since they stopped updating MBM5) or you can use CPU-Z. that one is a very good program.
On the 3dMark03 that is a good score but for the hardware you have I think its about 1k low, or there about. It maybe your memory holding you back. Or it maybe the cpu. But I would tend to think that its the memory since its not ddr400. But with my rig (see sig for info) in 3dmark03 I get 11829. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! remember he has pc2700 RAM which will be holding you back a bit, but you should be looking for a score of around 13000 i think, not that what you have is bad, but you want the most out of your rig _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

Jaydub, yeah I reformatted my drive, and I followed a tweak guide to basically minimize all that crap that runs when I start up windows (wasnt a lot to begin with, went from about 23, to 18.) and I run only the bare minimum in the background when the comp is on.
Weaze, mobomonitor was the first thing I looked into when josh told me to google for a cpu temp monitor, I installed it and yeah you're right It's not updated, my mobo wasnt supported.
I'm definitely with all of you in wanting to see the best performance outta me rig, thats why I'm here! but I think you guys are right in that it's prolly my ram holding me back, but I'm just plain outta money now, I'ma have to wait till I can afford newer ram.
I figured out the prob with my vcore voltage. I just upped it by.05 volts in bios and it seems to stay right at 1.50, still kinda strange tho, at default settings which I thought was 1.50 it ran at 1.46, but whatever, it's working now
Another question, my system is basically stock. I haven't really made any adjustments in the overclocking dept. is it possible to overclock the ram I have, or anything else I have, remember I'm a super newb so go easy on me with the tech jargan _________________ ALL JUNGLISTS! |

to answer your question about overclocking your memory simply. Yes you can. BUT the only way to find out what it can overclock to, is to overclock it. The best advice I can give at this point is to read the sticky in the processors and overclocking section. And then post back if you have any questions. And also with this you should verify that you have a motherboard that has a AGP/PCI lock that works. And if it does you should be in business with some overclocking goodness. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

Yes, I would only overclock if 1) you really understand everything and know what you are doing and 2) if you have a working agp/pci lock.
Ask any questions if you feel uneasy but don't be afraid to search the site too. LOTS and LOTS of good information that can be applied to most current pcs. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

damn...I really have a lot to do, I read three threads in precoessors & overclocking and they helped immensely....I still have some questions tho, in all of those threads the premise is that you're going to use pc3200, and I have 2700, does that mean I cant partake in the overclocking goodness
Another thing, I'm not sure what an agp\pci lock is, but jaydub, I saw on your thread that if you set the agp to 66mhz, the pci will auto set to 33mhz, is that considered locking? Lastly, I cant find anywhere to mess with the voltage going to the ram, I cant think of a part of the bios I havent looked in, this is where I should be looking right? _________________ ALL JUNGLISTS! |

Voltages and speed should be in the soft menu, remember to change voltage settings from auto to manual in order to change them.
Havin PC2700 doesnt mean you can't overclock, but it will limit it you on the maximum FSB you can achieve which is what you want to gain when overclocking the CPU. What is the FSB for your chip?
Yes, having the AGP at 66mhz will set PCI to 33MHZ (they are run on a 2:1 ratio automatically) and unless there is a specific lock feature (there isnt on my BIOS) they will lock yes.
When increasing voltages, you want to increase CPU/Vcore voltage in 0.025v increments and check for temperature and stability, and when overclocking the memory you want to increase the voltage by 0.1-0.2v, the RAM is not very susseptable to large increases in heat, so you are safe to do this increase as long as you have good case cooling. _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

^^Indeed. As for the ram voltage, it is probably called 'vdimm' in the bios. you should have values to change it from 2.5 to 2.8v or so.
If you set the agp speed to 66mhz it will be considered locked. Do not leave it on auto. If you do so, the agp/pci speed will increase with the fsb speed and cause problems.
Personally, I really wouldn't overclock that pc much. For what you have, you are doing great and won't see any lag on generous settings in the games. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

ok, thanks again guys. I dont think I will overclock it much, maybe just a little to see if I can...ju know? Still have a lot more research, I'm trying desperately to knock away at my newbism, and it's fun, thanks again for everything :) _________________ ALL JUNGLISTS! |

Well, give it a go, im not sure how good you RAM will be as you have a high FSB. If you find you cant do much but you want some new RAM, i would suggest some Crucial Ballisitix PC3200 2*512mb RAM, this is capable of running at DDR 466 so you will be able to get a nice OC out of that and your CPU.
If you ever run into problems that mean you cant get into the BIOS as it hangs on the BIOS etc, dont worry, all you need to do is reset your CMOS, refer to your Mobo manual to find out how to do this. I dont think this had been covered, but if you havent done an OC before, this is something that would make someone piss themself if they didnt know how to fix it.
Just coverin the bases _________________ »4 RS«»1Ж «»1 DENE«»1 FREAKIN LAME OH«»1 MONEY MONEY«

yeah thats fricken awesome.......
but has everyone aoverlooked the AMD 64's 1600mhz FSB????
he wouls need faster Ram to use to full potential of this front side bus........is it not 400x4? _________________

Enlighten me. How do you achieve this 1600 FSB?
Obviously you need a mobo that supports it but what settings and other hardware are necessary? |

All the 64 bit amd chips have a 1600 FSB......the boards that are comapable are equipped with it......i am not too familiar with it, but i thought id bring it up....=] _________________

It must be the way the ram is structured and the pathway it takes. Either that or AMD found a way to octouple pump (8x) the fsb. This has really intrigued me lately . . . time for google. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

its not a 1600mhz fsb what that is refering to is the hypertransport. Still your memory is running at 400mhz. Well in his case its running at 333 mhz. And that is why he is wanting to overclock is try to get the most out of his slower memory since he doesnt have money to go and buy new stuff. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back!
