Have you listened to the z640's too? Do you think there is a noticable performance difference worth the difference in price?
z640s = $50 US
z680's = $230 US |
The z-640's only have 140watts of total power the z-680's have over 500watts of total power pretty big difference in performence. |

the 680's sound WAY better than the 640's
well worth it if you HAVE the money, I was between the two, and got the 5300's
(no digital input, but very loud and sound great, about 120 bux now) _________________ Yeah....... ok |

Yeah, the Z680s sound excellent..... very awesome for the price!
I still can't seem to get the digital working right.... movies sound AWESOME (the background sounds) but voices are VERY quiet.... it feels like a karaoke, lol. I pumped up the volume on the center channel and that didn't do much either. I'll try a different DVD player program... maybe that's it. I have Intervideo WinDVD 4.5 platinum now.... _________________ DFI Nforce 4 SLI-DR

Hissing noise?? My head is always within an arm's length of ALL speakers and I don't hear a hissing noise - but then again I sarted out with my own cables and upgraded to 16-gauge speaker wire right off the bat. maybe that's where the problem lies, but i never hear any kind of hissing. Funny thing is that all the cable upgrades and 50FT of 16-gauge speaker wire ran me about $15 from radioshack :) _________________ DFI Nforce 4 SLI-DR

The hiss on amps usually caused by cheap capacitors charging and discharging. if the cable to the speakers is cheap stuff it can affect the resistance and capacitance, somtimes makes it a bit more noticable.
Or you might just have the amp turned up full and have the input very low.

Hey does anyone know how the Z-560's are.I have z-2200's and there awsome! But the z-560's are 4.1(which i like better than 5.1) and there the same amount of watts through each satellite.I dont care about digital sound realy.
will these speakers bass and volume compare to my z-2200's?
thx |

you'll just need basic speaker wire, which can be bought at radio shack or wherever you shop
and yes the z680s offer an enormous performance boost over the 640s...I have the 680s in my tiny house...I'm still waiting for the walls to fall down |

I believe he is talking about speaker wire. two paralell strands of copper wire usually coverd in clear insulation. 14 guage should do fine. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

The 680's actually come with speacker wire.. it's pretty good stuff actually! I swapped it out with Radioshack's 16-gauge stuff and I think it actually soundsa bit better...or maybe that's just me. Anyway, I got a 50ft roll of it at radioshack for about $10....not bad at all _________________ DFI Nforce 4 SLI-DR

That should do fine. FOr a higher quality setup, you may want to consider 14 guage copper, but that will be perfectly fine. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

^^what he said.
Or you can look into mostercable as well since they do make some good speaker wire that isnt as expensive as the stuff I posted. Probably they would have some within $10 of what you posted. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!
