What do you guys think of the abit ic7-max-3 over the abit ic7-g?

I mean who needs an encryted hd, like theres nothing that interesting on it anyway?

And i heard the "otes" cooloing system has some serious probelms with hs/f not fitting.

Theres like a £20 difference in price between the two (not much) but is it really worth it?

I have the IC-7 max3 and can say that yes it has troubles with some heatsinks not fitting. If you are going with watercooling then I would say that the OTES is a nifty feature. But that is nothing that a 40mm fan or two can fix. If I had to do it again I would get the IC-7 G.

You would love either board. Just get the one with all the bells and whistles that you want.

As mentioned, and I agree, either board would be a good choice.
My IC7G has been rock solid running 24/7 for almost a year with
no problems. Lightly overclocked 3.0 @ 3.4. The reported temps
on these boards are off approx. 8-10 deg. But once you learn that you can
live with it. Good luck, have fun

Abit IC7-G: there're two versions. The older one with a plastic Northbridge cooler

and the newer one with a metal Northbridge cooler

Try to get the newer one. I've just had trouble with the older Mobo. It didn't work stable.
