| Hey, i was just wondering what does it mean when someone says "PC3200 2-2-2-5". Like what does 2-2-2-5 mean? I know pc3200 is the speed of the ram but what does 2-2-2-5? For my memory on my computer on newegg.com the only thing that can come close to that on the information on my ram is 3-3-3 and thats for the Cas latency. What does "cas" mean? |

| hm....i still don't get it, i watched the memory latency to cas latency like 5times. Another question I have is, will changing my EIDE hard drive to SATA worth the money or should I just stick to EIDE? If I go to SATA, i will have to change my mobo because my mobo doesn't support SATA and then i will have to get another hard drive. Is it worth it or no? Thanks |

You would not need a new HDD, only mobo. They have adapters that can allow a SATA cable to attach to an IDE port on the back of a HDD.
As far as worth it is concerned. Are you happy at the moment with what you have? If yes, then your answer is no. =] _________________ "....Or as almost every word in a sentence; Tweak the tweaking tweakers!"

Why? There are reasons for SATA... ease of assembly, small cables easy on air flow, etc.
But, most ppl are looking for the performance, and unless you are going to get a WD Raptor which is a 10K RPM 4 something ms HD there is not enough performance to justify it. And...if you do decide to go Serial ATA, all you need is a PCI card add-in they are far cheaper than a new mobo.

Well I guess the answer to changing to sata is no because i'm satisfied with what I got. Just thought that I would be more satisfied . BTW: thanks for helping out and not flame on me for asking stupid questions like other forums. |

No bashing in the hardware forums...or there might be a shark attack.
Don't know about the rest of your gear, or what you do with it. But, a pair of 36G Raptors and a SATA Raid card can be a nice little performance booster. _________________ .
