I have an A7V8X-X motherboard and a barton 2500+ cpu at stock speeds, using Asusprob or MBM 5 my temps read 44C cpu and 34C(iddle) which i think are not that bad but if i reboot and enter the bios and look under the cpu temp, it reads 51C. Is this normal? which one is giving the correct readings?

gio.

p.s. I have a volcano 9 HSF at 4000 rpm

MBM 5 will give u the correct temps. What kind of processor do you have. On the reboot, the cpu is working hard, so it will bump it up. That does sound wierd though

while in bios your cpu is running in a continuous at 100% so yes it will read higher here than when in windows.
Its not all of the Asus' boards that read low, just as not all Abit boards read high. I dont think that either brands AMD boards are incorrect.

Thats not the problem... He wanted to know if BIOS was high haha not if it seems too low =b He wanted to know why in the BIOS it was 51 and not a regular 27ish. I kinda touched base and then weaze explained :) =b

well, feel the heatsink itself but be careful. if it feels just about warm enough to burn you then it is close to 50C. If it is just plain warm, then its probably closer to 44C.

I try not to rely on themal monitors too much. I like to rely on my senses a little more.

MBM has an ability to manually "correct" a temperature reading, you may need to adjust this to match the BIOS. You just need to set the adjustment to reflect waht the BIOS reads, the BIOS *should* be at IDLE, though not strictly true as it is in the "do nothing very fast" mode of idle, so use it as a mean / lower temperature range.

This is normal, the CPU will be always hotter in the BIOS than idling in Windows.
