Where is the bridge located? and where would you suggest i put a fan. The case manul said i can attach one between the side and the duct. and if i were to put one there would i have for blowing air in or taking it out? |

Have you tried updating your bios or tried using the latest asus probe? Also try Mobo Monitor like Nate said.
Its definately not right. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

I'm assuming from your siggy that you have a p4p800 se mobo. It has a black heatsink on the bridge, but no fan. (if I am correct) What I am saying is it would be nice to get some air right at that heatsink, and maybe even at the memory. (similar area) The sensor you are seeing as your mobo temp is in that chip that has the black HS on it.
As far as your side duct , it is feeding air to your CPU which seems to be kickin. So I don't think much needs to be done there. But the fan would be going in if you decided to add one. _________________ .

First touch the bridge while the cpu is operating (keep one hand on the case to avoid static) see if the heatsink on the brige feels hot, if it is not uncofortable to touch, then I would start checking else where. Those Temperatures are way off. go out and buy a cheap electronic thermomiter, they are very cheap. attach the senssor to the north bridge heatsink, near to the botom as possible. Check the temp, should be only a couple of degrees colder than the computer reads. if not and there is a BIG difference then the system board is not reading the information correctly.
Have you looked at the BIOS health monitor? what temperatures are listed there?
please check the BIOS first. I think there is some other reason than needing a a fan on the bridge or insufficient air flow. Even when the is little airflow on a north bridge, it still should not read close to 40 deg, not on a modern motherboard at least.
Anyhow a fan on the North bridge will certainly be of some benifit, so fit one anyway.

What HSF do you have??? if you are using the stock intel boxed cpu cooler then that is sucking air in from the duct. And since the air would then be flowing over the cpu heatsink and then onto the northbridge heatsink the motherboard should be cool as well.
The best words of wisdom here have been from Nathan and SS.
Nathan said to update Asusprobe <----- good idea
SS said to check the temps in the bios <------- excellent idea!
give us the results of the bios check and we can go from there. The next step would be to remove the side of the case and have a house fan blow on the motherboard (I know its ghetto but its a good way to see if the case has a hot spot developing due to low airflow). _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back!
