I just bought a new ASUS A7N8X Deluxe with an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton chip. The motherboard is Rev 2.0 and supports 400 Mhz FSB. The CPU is rated at 333 Mhz. My question is should I buy PC3200 or PC2700 memory for it. I plan to run everything stock for a while and then start experimenting with overclocking the CPU.

I understand that to run the memory in sync with the CPU FSB is the preferred method, but couldn't I run the PC3200 at PC2700 speed until I start playing with it the settings?

Also, I see a lot of deals for CAS 2.5 and CAS 3.0., and the CAS 2.0 is more expensive. Is it worth it?

Remeber bud, the CPU bus is not the same as the memory bus.

The board will support PC3200 even if you have a 333FSB CPU.

CAS 2.0 is the faster alternative but it' only worth it if the price difference is realtively close.
