|
|
Hello...
I just installed the Asus P4C800 Deluxe MB with a P4 2.4c 800 FSB CPU. I have no problems and all applications run great however, everytime I shut down and boot up, my AMI Bios is reporting a NEW CPU INSTALLED press F1 to modify your settings. All I have to do is enter the BIOs, select Save and Exit and Windows XP starts up fine. If I restart, I have no problem... only when I shut down and power back up. I have the latest AMI Bios 1008 that was released this month. I do have Hyper Threading enabled and I even tried it disable with the same results. None of my BIOs settings are changing or getting lost. This is a minor problem however for a brand new motherboard it is annoying to enter the BIOs on each boot up.
Any ideas? Should I take the board back or is there something I'm missing?
Thanks for any help,

Reflash the bios with the latest version again and if the problem persists, go to one version earlier and see if it solves your problem. _________________ Owner & Administrator

Hello, thanks for the reply. I bought the board at Fry's Electronics and it was previously returned opened box. They did not have a new one in stock... I noticed the jumper for the "clear cmos" was missing... not sure if this did it. I took one of the extra jumpers and put on the pin 1 and 2 instead of 2 and 3 to clear. I also made some changes for stability on my Corsair Twinx memory at the same time... but it did happen the first time I booted after these changes but not since.
???
Thanks again,

That would explain it, if the clear cmos did not have the appropriate jumper attached, the bios would not save any settings.
Good thing it was a simple solution.
