| ok so i got this thign called Motherboard Monitor (shows your case and CPU temp in the sys tray)anyways, so when i exit any game and look down my CPU is always somewhere around 50c - 53c, but within a minute it's back to 38c - 40c.............dunno if this is average or not, but i'm planning on getting a ThermalTake SP-94 (i think?) and a Vantec Tornado when i get some money so that should jelp |

Yeah...games will really heat up your cpu...(SP-94 is made by Thermalright), Awesome Heatsink...I have one, but I took the Tornado off, it's way loud!
My idle is around 32*C, prime95 will get it up to about 40*C, but I keep room temp very cool

It is possible to see this happening, especially with a heatsink that is so effecient.
You should probably uninstall mobo monitor and install your manufacturer's monitor instead

Should'nt make a difference as long as Mother board monitor is pointed at the right Winbond chip on his board. all these progs do is read the data from the chip, so either way he'll have the right information. And trust me you KNOW when mobo mon is looking for the wrong chip!
As for the chip cooling down after a game, this is perfectly normal, drunning most games pushes your cpu up to 100%, when you leave the game your system will drop back to Idle ~ 0 -6% depending what is running (CPU idle reduces the power to the inactive parts of the CPU) rather than the old 'do nothing very fast' of older operating systems. Even the 80386 CPU has support for power management.
Incase any of you have an older laptop you can install programs like "waterfall" or "Rain" which decrease the time it take to power the CPU down, can save a LOT of battery power (even on some relativly newer laptops).
NT was the first MS OS to support this feature.

my CPU temps go up pretty high too, about 50C but idle around 32C...its only when im playing games tho..i jsut have stock heatsink and CPU fan, but im running 2 back,1top,2 front fans..so i guess tehir doing alright.
