Hi, I have a Samsung 191T. Everything works fine except when I use it in DVI mode the controls on the monitor are locked. It forces to use 50% contrast and that seems too bright!

I normally use 30% contrast and 10% brightness while in analog mode.

I tried to adjust the monitor using driver color correction (Leadtek Geforce 3 64Mb TDH) but the picture gets all washed out and still whites are too bright.

If somebody could post their color correction settings for 191T in DVI mode that would be nice.

Well, try lowering your brightness setting on the monitor, I know that it is not locked out by DVI. Man, you really like it dark don't ya.

I thought mine needed a boost in contrast.

In your drivers setting you can usually adjust the gamma which will lower the contrast for you.

The problem is that when you adjust the brightness/contras or gama using the drivers that the picture gets washed out if you try to make it darker but the whites still are too bright.

And it doesn't seem dark to me :) Seems normal but for just reading it's too bright when using the DVI.

I have the new 191T model with integrated power supply and SAMSUNG writings on the back. Maybe they made those more bright?

Oh and does anyone know samsung bad pixel policy? How many lit/unlit pixels there must be so you can get your monitor replaced by warranty. I heard 3lit or 7unlit pixels.

Thanks

I would call Samsung's Customer Support Office, the number should be in your monitor's paperwork.

Same thing happened to me. With Nathan's guidance, I ended up equally lowering both the brightness and contrast in my Nvidia display properties. I was noticing that whites were oversaturated to the point of being yellowish or "cream" color in nature. After nudging the brightness and contrast in software, and lowering the screen's brightness to 25, mine looks fine in DVI mode. Let me know how it goes for you.

(By the way, for the 19" model, the dead pixel policy is a staggering zero...if there's one dead pixel, stuck with either a full white or full black background, they will replace it. Ask for more details by calling 1-800-SAMSUNG)

I have adjusted the monitor by using color correction. I have made them like this: red 1.08 green 1.00 (unchanged) blue 0.92. Brightness and contrast wene not adjusted. Now it looks fine :/

Strange replacement policy Are you sure about that 1 dead pixel?
There is a review at tomshardware that says thei will not replace it with one dead pixel. Read about it here http://www6.tomshardware.com/display/20030319/index.html

I live in lithuania and our region service center is www.servicenet.lt they replace all samsung and other hardware. And they said that there must be 3lit or 7unlit pixels than the monitor can be replaced. Anyone can comment this?

Oh and there are 2 dead pixels here. One on the left side about 4 cm away from the edge in the middle of the screen. It can be seen only on solid blue background. Another is red and can be almost everytime you look at it. It is on the right side 5cm away from the edge in the middle of the screen.

it all depends on who you return it to. For example, you can return the product to the manufacturer and they will have a different dead pixel policy than say the online store that you bought it from.

I know that, but I wonder what policy other retailers has. If someone who has 191T woud provide such info it would be helpful :)
