| Ok all, my sleeving for my computer should be getting here in the next hour. Im planning on using this handy antenna to remove the moltex pin connectors, how about the other wires, just pull the stuff over them? im also grabbing a metal pipe like that one forum suggested. Any last minute suggestions or hints to make my life easy? |

May God be with you my son.
when removing the molex connectors use a sample or a drawing to verify how to put it back together. You dont want to get your wires crossed. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

i was planning on marking on the connectors themselves with red yellow black, ill write it all down first just to be sure though, i keep hearing all of this stuff about the cpu holding a charge after turned off so how long should i wait before sticking this metal antenna into a moltex connector. |

its not the cpu that holds it its the psu.
I would say unplug the psu and just as long as you arent shorting the leads together your should be fine. If not you can come back and share what NOT to do when sleeving your psu. Seriously tho you should be fine with it unplugged. _________________ I tweaked and it tweaked back! So I Tweaked some more!

i meant psu, sry, should i bother to open the psu to get the sleeving all the way in or is there too much work involved there, im pretty lazy and dont want to spend hours putting a psu back together . and also how about wires that arnt moltex connections, how do u take off the head, im planning on doing all my wires. I was just going to experiment but if ne one actually knows and would feel sorry for me working for hours like a dog (yea right) please let me know! |

May be to late. BUT...If you are going to sleeve up to PSU bundle. Put a couple or three cable ties right at the opening temporarily to secure the bundle as you work on the rest of the groups of wires. You can remove them after your finished "wrestling" it.
This is one of those things I learned the hard way. Don't think I need to tell the whole story. _________________ .

| lmao, i want to hear this story, tell me. And its not to late, i had to take a break, its OVERWHELMING. There feels like a kagillion wires still need to be done, but if ur thinking about doing this, just take breaks so that u dont get overwhelmed, and make it a couple day project! |

Once upon a time, in a very hot dry place, before the age of the bluetooth. A fellow who called himself 2old, noticed that the wiring inside of his new puter was not very tidy. Being a person of some pride, 2old decided he would clean up this wiring by using some handy-dandy little things called cable ties and tie plates. Now pride can sometimes be a dangerous thing. For 2old knew that nobody would see inside of this case once he closed it up, and only he would know how bad the wiring looked. For in this day, albeit not before the time of FPS's, (DOOM2) there was no need for clean air flow. For only the PSU and CPU needed any fans.
But WTF said 2old, and he proceded with all his pride to tidy up. "What a pretty wiring job" he thought to himself as he closed up his new rig by putting in the final six phillips head screws. (yes cases used to use these) How cool he thought to himself as he plugged in the PS2 mouse and 104 Kb. For I shall have a fast new machine. As it should have been. Boasting a 133Mhz processor and mode 4 hard drive, a bit smaller than some, but faster.(who could possibly use a gigabyte of storage, anyway)
A push of the button, and........NADA. Push it again. (why do we do this? Do we think if we keep pushig it something might happen)
A check of the cord, is there a switch on the back? WTF, WTF, Push the button again.....NADA. Out comes the phillips....Hmmm. All 16Mb of memory is there. A push on this new PCI (POS) VGA board. An unplugging of all uneeded things.....NADA. Okay, need another power supply to check it out. Ah the 486 supply...Phillips...what dear? Oh nothing...uh...well, give me ten minutes then you can play solitaire on your computer.
Well, as you can see 2old was now in deep fecal matter with the ol' lady, as well as having 2 puters wide open. But, would his pride allow him to stop here? NFW....Ahhhh, it is the supply.
Now 2old had a decision to make, play with his new puter, (oh yea) and sleep with the dog, or get the old puter back together ASAP.
Well, here's where 2old makes his first wise decision. (in retrospect) The 486 back together, she played solitaire and 2old got to work on his new puter. So 2old cuts all them cable ties out to get the PSU out. "Now WTF am I going to do" 2old said to himself, dead PSU in hand. "The computer shop won't be open till Monday and only an idiot would pay CompUSA prices." So 2old did the only honorable thing........can we say it together kiddies.......VOID THE WARRANTY.
So that's what 2old did. And what did he find? He had pulled some of the wires from the cheap-4ss poorly assembled printed circuit board. So 2old solders things back together. (as well as touches up some other spots) He puts the supply back together, and screws it back into the case. He attaches it to the mobo, and pushes the button. Beep.....the blue screen of life.
"Okay" says 2old "do I pretty up the wires?" "F that, any Ahole looks in my puter gets what he deserves. Besides it ain't like they'll ever put a window in them." The End
The moral of the story is: tie your bundle before you start dickin' with the wires.

Well Ham...once we had the two comps running, my next step was to make a null modem cable that ran between the two. Doom2 suddenly had an entire new life. I even did some maps.
So I pretty much got to do what I wanted to comps from there on out. Not to mention we pretty much always had a spare around. FPS's were always a team project. (I think killing is better when shared)
Needless to say I married this woman.
Alas, like that old comp, she is gone.
So...do you have an older sister? _________________ .
