Appologise for the trivial post but it won't be if the mobo socket breaks. lol.
Right, tomorrow I'm making a rather lengthy journey by car with my case. I do have the *copper* version of the Zalman CNPS7000A installed, which is the heavier of the two versions available (the copper one being somewhere around 800grams or somethink rediculous).
Should I take it off (then re-attach when i get to destination but have to fiddle about with thermal paste again, having to re-apply it and stuff) or should I just carefully position the case (see sig 4 case) horizontally? How likely is it to break off and mash up my rig?
Cheers. _________________

i would just lay it on its side........so most of the weight leverage is being applied directly to the center of the socket and cpu.......if you stood it up, all the little bumps would apply pressure to the HSF at the outermost curve along the axis......which has an apex of your cpu, therfore most pressure being applied in the wrong direction.......
in other words......put comp on side, most safe, least damage......lol _________________

yeah, if you have it's original box (i doubt you do, btu i keep mine around for such occasions) just slide it in there carefully, lay it on it's side and put whatever else you're taknig aroudn it to keep it from sliding, or, as they said, put a seatbelt around it.. don't wanna slam on your breaks at a stop light and watch your case go flying through the window and hit an old lady in the head..... who then would egt run over by a bus of a bunch of retarded japanese school kids who'd swerve into a 'new mother's training class' which would cause the building to explode, launching a brick at your face and killing you people say i have a lengthy imagination.. i just always prepare for the worst |
