| I know it's probably just speculation at this point, but when do you think AMD will release a 3ghz Athlon XP? Is next Summer a reasonable estimate? |

as long as they can continue to out perform the "other" guys, whether it be through a better bus speed or whatever.... I would see no point in them bothering to push it.
It might happen with either the "ClawHammer" or the "SanDiego".
below is the current road map....and below that is a comparison done by PriceWaterhouse :)

I would have to say that they will probably try to get a 3Ghz out for the end of this year. _________________ Owner & Administrator

| I've read a number articles that suggested AMD is having some production problems with their 64-bit chips. I've always been amazed at how Athlons consistently outperform Pentiums, and though Intel has certainly made great strides the last year or two, I am among the AMD faithful who will probably never go back to the Pentium world. I'd like to see the Hammer series have the potential to support future clock speeds of well over 3ghz, which may not be all that unrealistic of an expectation. |
