My turn to share a quandary.
I have my video card the I have previosly thermal epoxied some RAM sinks to. Now I wish to remove and replace them with different ones.....anyone ever found a SAFE way to remove arctic silver themal epoxy from a chip???
1. Put the videocard in a plastic bag and stick it in the freezer for 20-30min which will make the epoxy brittle and when you take it out, you can use a butter knife with something underneath it to pop the heatsinks off.
2. Also, you can use the blow drier method which is more or less heating the ramsinks with the drier on high to soften the thermal epoxy and remove the heatsinks.
Good luck and remember to put something under the butterknife to protect your videocard from being scratched and damaged. _________________ Owner & Administrator
