Hi, Im fairly new to overclocking.
Sys Specs
I have a ASUSP4P800 Deluxe Mb
P4 2.4C
512 Mb of ADATA PC5000 (dont quite remember) or something overrated for the board so i can overclock.

I have been tinkering with my settings, are there any red tape voltages that you should not exceed for fear of blowing your computer up? Whats the max voltage I should have my Vcore at for normal use and how much life will it cut from my processor? What does it normally run at when not overclocking?

Right now i am overclocking at 3.42 with a FSB at 285. The vcore is set at 1.5750. I am running a stable machine with 26 idle temps, 28 surfing the web, and never over 34 celcius when playing games :-). All other voltages are set at the lowest amount. Should i be worried for my processor. Thanks for any help!!! My email adress is seansmith@att.net if you could help me out it would be great.

you need another 512meg stick of the exact same same ram so you will run in dual channel.

Right now you are running in single chnnael with a severe reduction in memory bandwidth.

good god not at all.........this looks rockin

i would set your ram voltage to 2.8
agp to 1.6

and as for the CPU.....as long as its stable youre good........with cpu's heat matters more than voltage........ive never seen a p4 too stable over 1.7, but as long as your heat is ok, you are golden......

try to keep that load temp below 50 and your golden

i'm surprised that you got ddr500 to run at ddr570. have you run prime95 to check for stability. if not i would run it for at least 24 hours to test stability.

otherwise, very nice and welcome to TweakNews.

Either I wasn't reading properly or nobody mentioned that YOU MUST LOCK YOUR AGP/PCI AT 66/33!!!

Yup, my AGP thing has been locked in 66/33, I read that it was important luckily before I did it, and I have run Prime95 and it comes back with no errors.

frnchpplesuck516, i just realised that a lot of our components are similar.

Can I ask you one thing, though. How's your cable management with the case? Is it tidy?

Im not sure if I would call it tidy, but its no where close to my room so its not that bad. I spent an hour placing all the wires in place and then using wire ties to secure them so it looks better than it might but I think that for my next build Im going to make sure I get a bigger case cause there isnt really enough room to work for all the stuff that this case came with.

Wow, wait a minute. The XaserIII has "not enough space"!? Wow man, I never thought you can get any bigger (and heavier).

Where did you manage to put all the cables. The problem I have with mine is the fan connectors coming from the fans that connect to the other connectors that come from the Hardcano unit. There's too many of them.

I have a 3 5.25 Drive bay and 2 outer and 2 inner 3.5 mid tower case, its all really cramped in there. I know that there is a much bigger one that looks the same and costs like 80 bucks more with mored drive bays and what not. I too had a time with the fan connectors. I dont use floppy drives so i have lots of extra wire hidden in there, and some of the wires i have going behind my mobo. I do have one wire that hangs because it goes to the fan on the see through panel but that is it, everything else i have tucked under something and wrapped the extra wires around the fans. You can try that it works well, for instance taking the wires that go to the front light display and to the fan there and wrap teh extra around it and the use a wiretye to seal it off. It took some time and since i dont use floppies im also missing a large ide wire deal. Its hard but possible.

Yeah, that confused me a bit. Don't worry, we won't get tired of you. Noobs are allowed 3 chances before they're baned, you've used up 2. joking...

There's a size difference between the XaserIII (which I have, and thought you had too and is why I was amazed when you said you didn't have enough space) and the XaserIII Lan Fire.

You still up for chatting on AIM? What's your screen name?
You gotta wait, tho, I gotta reboot into Windows XP (in Linux at the mo).

My AIM name is zhensem (surprise, surprise). lol
