I was just wondering if 330W of power supply is enough for the new system which i plan to get. To be more specific, im getting the Antec Performance Plus 660AMG ATX Midi Tower Case which has the "truepower" 330W.

The other components that will be inside this are:

Intel P4 2.8ghz 800FSB 1mb cache
GeXcube Radeon 9800PRO Extreme 128mb
Geil High Performance Dual Channel 2x 512mb DDR400
Asus P4C800 Deluxe 875P 800FSB DDR400
80GB SATA 8mb cache 7200 memory

Should a 330W power supply be enough? Or would i be better off with something between 380W-450W?

All thoughts and advice is appreciated.

thats ok, but if you wanna be on the safe side for adding things in the future, maybe you should go for a 400w? Just my 2 pence (copyright zhensem )

but remember that you would only be able to get 70% of that 330. So yes a psu upgrade is in order.

Component..................Requirement.............Line(s) Used
AGP Video Card..............30 – 50W.................+3.3V
Average PCI Card............5 – 10W....................+5V
10/100 NIC.......................4W......................+3.3V
SCSI Controller PCI Card....20W...................+3.3V and +5V
Floppy Drive.....................5W........................+5V
CD-ROM.......................10 – 25W...............+5V and +12V
DVD-ROM.....................10 – 25W...............+5V and +12V
CD-RW.........................10 – 25W...............+5V and +12V
7200rpm IDE Hard Drive....5 – 20W...............+5V and +12V
10,000rpm SCSI Drive.....10 – 40W...............+5V and +12V
Case/CPU Fans..............3W (each).................+12V
Motherboard (w/o CPU or RAM).25 – 40W......+3.3V and +5V
RAM............................8W per 128MB............+3.3V OR +5v*
Pentium III Processor.........38W......................+5V
Pentium 4 Processor..........70W......................+12V
AMD Athlon Processor........70W......................+12V

Updated and added
Cold Cathod Light......+/- 3.7w
LED Fan (4 LEDs).......+/- 1.6w

*Some motherboards use the +5v for RAM (ex. DFI infinities). if they have expanded voltage options.

[list is from pcpowercooling].

The reason that I post this is because it is important to get a psu with the proper amount of power where you need it. whether it be in the +3.3 or +5v rail or +12v rail. And remember QUALITY!!! the better the quality the more stable the voltages are going to be. The more consistant voltages are going to yield a better overclock.

i really think you should go with 360watts + psu. if you plan on overclocking, that system will very VERY quickly use all the power of that smaller psu. also, if you don't have enough current on one rail, the psu can quickly give out also.

oh well, too late now, i just went out today and bought the Antec 330W 660AMG Trupower case. BTW, what you see in my first post, is EVERYTIHNG that will be inside my case.

If i find 330W isnt enough, ill just take it back. The salesperson told me it would be enough so if it isnt - ill be returning it.

I noticed your P4 has 1mb of L2 cache meaning its a prescott meaning you should take it back meaning you should get a northwood, plz tell me you didnt buy the prescott.
