welcome dpauto...

let's get a few detail from you first...
chip?
serial?
MOBO?
is the waffer brown or green?

many of the XPs have been coming unlocked by default and narrowing the possibilities might just save you some time!

Look at the L1 bridge, it should be connected like so or if it isn't , It should have it connected with a rear window defrost repair kit from an auto store.

sorry bout the delay......

does the link above look like yours? the reason I ask, is that if it is green then this does not makes sense because the green are composed of an organic waffer as opposed to ceramic as shown above and listed in your serial number.

OK let's break it down:
A1200AMS3C

A =Processor Core Architecture: AMD Athlon Processor
1200= Model Number: 1200MHz
A =Package Type: Ceramic Pin Grid Array (CPGA)
M= Operating Voltage: 1.75 V
S =Max Die Temperature: 95ºC
3 =Size of L2 Cache: 256 Kbytes
C=System-Bus: 266MHz

either way, when you are in the bios, how many of the multipliers for the CPU are you able to access?
