damn, so i need a proper cd key!

i have just emailed sierra and told them the problem in the hope that they will send me a valid cd key.

BTW, for my retail version, could i d/l a 1.5 retail update, then a 1.5 to 1.6 update, or do i need to use steam?

If so i will take the games back, complain, get my money and get a single half-life game with a working key. Then it will hopefully work

no you have to use steam thers no way out of it, plus with 1 cd-key you can play all of the half-life mods except blueshift, and you can order condition zero through steam.

i had the same problem as you there, Josh. Rock is right as far as i know. you have to go through steam. i tried for a week to find, download, and install all the right updates and patches but they were all to no avail.

On the note of CS, well ive had 2 copies of generations and they have both been f***ed with!

So im getting my money back tommorow and buying a single version of Half Life in the hope it will work, i will then endure the 40+ hour download of CS 1.6!

can anyone run a dedicated server? i'd be more than happy to but i've only got a 30KB/s upload. we'll decide on a game and go from there

JW, when everyone has named there games etc. i will say which games have the most interest which will therefore be played. For each game i will ask for a team leader whos job will be to notify the games team members dates times etc. and also to set up the clans.

My job should be (unless things work out different) to notify you all of necarssary updates and give you links for the played games, decide on team leaders (but my decision will be influenced by your opinions), and help the any of the players with whatever questions they pose to me (if i have the knowledge

) All being well this should run pretty smothly!

BTW, in the next few weeks i will get you all to confirm which games you are definately going to be playing in (because i cant have people play one game then leave, as i dont want to have other people let down and i dont want the team to be made a fool of, but that wont happen

) I will also get you all to tell me which game servers you use for each game (eg steam, jolt, gamespy etc.) so that we can minimize the number of people needing to update their apps or create user accounts.

I think i covered everything i had to say, any questions just ask!

ooooo! i just had a good idea (i can have one once every few years right?)
we should all play wolfenstien: enemy territory. its free to download and play and does not require a heavy duty pc at all. it is alot of fun and we could all get into a good game without using alot of bandwidth.

It's a shame Grand Theft Auto (3 or vice city) doesn't have multi player.

i thought i would just give a link to Enemy Territory. its a pretty fun game that is free. its not just a killfest. . . its got objectives for each team also. pretty damn good gameplay and it can be played by almost any pc. (yes even TH's 9200se!!!) i think its a must play game

Also another great free game is Americas Army<<<very good and any PC with a Broadband connection will handle it.

you want the 2.1 patch, 728MB, its not a demo as the page suggests, its a full game that has no subscription or payment needed. Give it a go, its well worth it!
