Im considering getting a new case in the near future (thermaltake xaser III, any opinions welcome) and of course i will be needing to remove all of the stuff out of my old case, but one thing strikes me as a bit of a problem!!

The coolermaster Aero 7+ has a PCI bracket with a fan speed control knob attatched to it, but the problem is that the knob is wider than the PCI slot itself, which is not a problem when installing it because you just screw it on to the bracket from the outside of the case. But when it comes to me taking it out i will have that problem as it seems impossible to remove the knob once it its attatched without breaking it and the instructions that came with it are about as useless as...well... i dont know, they are terrible.

So if anybody has this fan and knows how to remove the speed knob from the PCI slot bracket, i will appreciate the advice!!
Thanks!!

I believe the knobs just slips on right?

Pop it off with two flat screw drivers on either side to balance the force and to pop the knob off evenly.

In response to nate, you have to screw the nob on in the first place, but there doesnot seem to screw off?!?

hehe, i just PM'd zhensem about a second before his post asking a question about it!! I think im getting III instead of V because there is little difference in design and i prefer the xaser III, and it is also cheaper with what appears no difference in performance!

Also, if anybody know where to get a Thermaltake tsunami BLACK case which is pretty new i think, from UK, i really need to know!!!
Nate or anyone, do you know what the tsunami is like compared to the xaser series, i know they are nicer looking with mirrored sides etc. but i mean in terms of cooling? Thanks

Josh,

In addition to the PM I sent you (the first one) I just wanted you to note that the Tsunami case DOES NOT have a blow hole, unlike the Xasers that do!

Zhenya.

how much of a difference does a blow hole make to temps, keep in mind that the tsunami is 0.8mm aluminium, whereas the xasers are thick steel with an aluminium front. Also the tsunami weighs 5kg, the xaser 17kg.

Not all the Xasers are thick steel. Yes the blue and the black ones are steel but the silver one is all aluminium!

I have the blue one and with all those components inside the whole thing weighs a lot. I'm considering getting the carry case for it to make it easier to when moving it.

In terms of the blow hole, I think it does help. Hot air rises and the blow hole fan just gets rid of the hot air pockets at the top of the case.

Zhenya.

If the nob is metal and not plastic heat it up carefully with a lighter not to hot just pretty warm and use pliers to remove it.
