Several things here.
1) I have the Thermaltake XaserIII case. It has 7 fans. My power supply has 2 and I added another PCI slot exhaust (it sits right next to the graphics card). Plus the fan on the processor heat sink and another one I've custom added (see Q2) makes a total of 12 fans on my rig! Shouldn't my MB temperatures be slightly lower than 34C (especially MB temps) and CPU (P4 chip) temp lower than 37C (all temps are idle) as on my old case with no case fans my temps were about the same, the CPU was lower at around 35C?
2) This one requires knowledge of the case I have. Basically I bought a Thermaltake fan that has 3 blue leds and 1 red (hdd led) and I put it in instead of the the top window fan. Now I have one of the original case fans hanging around, so I decided to use it. The only good place I found for it is as follows. The XaserIII case has a crossbar (like most cases do) that runs from just below the PSU across to the front of the case and attaches to the CD rom drive bays. On that crossbar there are several holes. So attached it to those holes and positioned the fan to blow air upwards. However, about 5cm above this fan that I've installed there's the normal Thermaltake XaserIII blow hole fan. So two questions from this. Is the fan I've added going to help at all (as it's basically accelerating air into the blow hole fan) and the second question is, should I reverse it so that it blows air downwards into the middle of the case? However, it will be blowing air the blow hole fan is trying to get rid of back into the case, but going at a speed the air still seems quite cool.
Finally, has anyone found another place to cram an extra 80cm fan into the case apart from the crossbar?
Any input much appreciated!
Thx,
Zhenya.
P.S. One final final thing, promise. Has anyone managed to fit the Thermaltake XaserIII Hardcano temperature probe under a P4 chip? The P4 chip is too small and I can't get it in there. It's perfect for an AMD chip, though. And if not is it possible to sandwich the probe between the HSF and the chip itself? _________________

How many of the fans are intake and exhaust?
It doesnt really matter how many fans are being used all together, if they are'nt
balanced ( same amount of air being pulled out as is being pushed in ) then you wont have good air flow and this is the key to good aircooling. Otherwise the air is just being moved around inside the case and not much fresh air is getting in.
I would never place a temp. probe in between the heatsink and cpu. This could cause some serious heat problems with the cpu. _________________ Abit Max3, Intel2.4@ 3.42, 9800pro 460core/380mem., 2 Raptors raid0 |

Righty ho then.
I have 2 intake fans on the front of the case. I have two more on the side of the case. I have another exhaust fans at the rear and one blow hole fan. These are all 80cm fans. I then have the PSU that has 2 fans on it, one sucking air from the case into the PSU and the other blowing the air out the back. Then another exhaust PCI slot fan and one final fan that's just blowing air around the case.
That's 4 intakes and 4 exhausts + 2 PSU fans (that are exhausting two) and another one that's blowing air from the middle of the case towards the blow hole fan.
