So, I just got my computer, and its going well so far, except for the thermal past. its arctic silver, and I'm using a thermalright SLK-800 heatsink. should I just apply a layer a of about 2 peices of paper thick? should I apply it on the CPU inside the computer, or outside the computer? I also heard that it can be conductive, so if it gets of the die of your cpu, then it will, you know, reck it.

Thanks, it should be running tonight, this is the only thing thats stopping me

Please visit this video tutorial for applying thermal paste.

Follow it to the letter and all will be well.

ONLY APPLY THERMAL PASTE TO THE CPU DIE AND NOTHING MORE!

yupper...use the credit card or similar trick....even your fingers can leave ridges that will capture heat......the depth of your finger prints makes a difference when applying the paste.
