Im currently trying to overclock my Athlon XP 1800+. I have a SY-K7V Dragon Plus! mb, and it allows me to overclock in 1mhz increments. Anyhow, i was wondering what software you guys use to see what the settings give. What is a good benchmarking tool to use so i can see how much higher im overclocking?

mpetrie - Have you unlocked your CPU? If you haven't then you aren't going to be able to truly OC this chip.

Here is the tool you need to see what your FSB and clock multiplier settings are, it also displays detailed information on your CPU model/stepping and speed: Download WCPUID Here! This tool is widely used and accepted among tech enthusiasts.

For benchmark apps check out the following:

- SiSoft Sandra 2003 The most widely used comprehensive benchmarking tool. Get's my Editor's Choice.

- PCMark 2002 A great overall PC benchmarking utility, tests your CPU, memory, etc

- 3DMark 2001SE Mainly tests your graphic's card performance, but it's good to use for CPU benchmarking as well

- Super_PI Calculation of pi up to 33.55 million digits This will test your computers speed/efficiency, a lower time is better.

I havent actually unlocked the CPU yet, im still working on that part.

My computers stats are:
• AMD Athlon 1800+ (1.53GHz)
• Volcano 9 "Coolmod"
• SY K7V-Dragon Plus!
• 512MB PC2100 PNY
• NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200
• Pioneer 16x Slot loading DVD-ROM
• TDK VeloCD 48X/24X/48X CD-RW
• Skyhawk Galaxy-Lx(premodded case)
• UV Cool Cathodes
• Silver Rounded SCSI/IDE cables
• Many more mods
• Maxtor 30GB 7200RPM w/Linux Red Hat 7.3
• Maxtor 120GB 7200RPM w/Windows XP Pro
• Still looking for a Case Badge.

In my experiences ive used 3DMark2001 SE and i usually get scores around the 9000 range, but lately its been around 6000 (not sure why). Ive been having problems getting this number higher, it seems like everytime i run it, the numbers get smaller and its driving me up a wall.

I use WCPUID3.1, NVHardPage, GeForce Tweak Utility, and Xteq systems X-setup. I have Coolbits installed, I have the "Safe" configuration on my services (black viper style)

On WCPUID3.1 it says im running the internal clock at 1586.71 real time

Im really just hoping to get the 3DMark stats up to at least 10,000 and my cpu running a little faster.

Anyhow, its a pretty sweet system, ill post up some pictures once my girlfriend sends me them from her digital camera.
