Lets say that a motherboard comes with an integrated sound card, like the nforce 2. If I wanted to update the drivers for that one paticular thing, would I have to go to the motherboard manufacturer site, and download new drivers for the whole motherboard?

no, you can find the updated driver on the website, but you dont have to update the whole board because of one part.
