Find this key in the registry and change the value to 3. Mine was set to 4 and the cursor kept dissappearing. After I changed it to 3 it stopped dissappearing.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\Features\TV\Display]
"DisplaySize"=dword:00000003
This problem has been plaguing me since I got this thing.
Please let me know if this works for you. |

ga2's registry edit fixed it for me. I only started having the problem after installing MMC 8.7. Here it is:
"Find this key in the registry and change the value to 3. Mine was set to 4 and the cursor kept dissappearing. After I changed it to 3 it stopped dissappearing.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\Features\TV\Display]

Within TV Setup > Display tab:
Set the Video Size to 'Medium'
Uncheck 'Auto Hide Controls when in Full Screen' option
Exit the TV Player and launch Gemstar GuidePlus+ |

YES this registry change worked for me, same problems as people above, however I have a 9600AIW Pro.
"Find this key in the registry and change the value to 3. Mine was set to 4 and the cursor kept dissappearing. After I changed it to 3 it stopped dissappearing.

|
|
I found the following kludge will fix the disappearing cursor.
Run GuidePlus (with Launchpad toolbar present)
Wait for cursor to disappear.
Run the Player (from LaunchPad)
Exit the Player
Cursor is now restored and stays there for remainder of session. |

I just came into this thread late, but ga2, I think you got it! It worked on my 7500. If it works for others, I think ATI owes ya one. |

| Not sure how you came about the registry fix ga7 but it works. I have a 8500DV and never had the problem until I did a driver update with windows update. |

I have an AIW 9700 pro and ga2's registry edit worked. Thanks.
ATI tech support sucked with regards to the disappearing mouse cursor. Now they are on top, they better devote more resources to Customer Support! Otherwise, we are just going to jump ship when another shift in the fight for the videocard throne heats up. |

Thank You!!!! Works great!!! I was going nutty installing every differnt version of driver veiwers and guides tring to fix it. Have you passed this on to ATI. It might save some people anguish and anger with Ati. Other than this small buggy I have been most pleased.

I've had the same problem since buying the 9600 recently. I just tried to load the new MM center. Now with TV 9.0 Guide plus does not work at all! On launch it goes crazy and can only be killed through task manager.
Any one else had this issue? _________________ Bruce |

Found a solution that fixed the problem. No problems yet:!
I found it at:
http://www.tweaknews.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5439[/url]
Find this key in the registry and change the value to 3. Mine was set to 4 and the cursor kept dissappearing. After I changed it to 3 it stopped dissappearing.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\Features\TV\Display]
"DisplaySize"=dword:00000003 |

I did the registry change and it doesn't help me at all. However, mine was set to 2 and I changed it to 3, where everyone else was at 4 first.
I wonder what resolution you guys are running?
I'm new here and only found you because of this issue. _________________ XP SP1a, TBred B NF7-S, AIW 8500DV Cat4.5 MMC9.0, Corsair 3200LLPT |

Tried a bunch of stuff tonight. Still not working.
It really seems to me that the "auto-hide" mouse cursor is kicking in while in guide plus. Make sense?
A related issue to me is WHY THE HELL IS THIS THE SOFTWARE we get with ATi??
Guide Plus flat sucks! Have you seen SnapStream?? It smokes GuidePlus. All of ATi's EASYLOOK stuff is beautiful but then you boink over to GuidePlus...
...I don't get it?
If I were using only a HTPC setup with a TV I would be pissed that I had to switch to that crap to find TV listings. _________________ XP SP1a, TBred B NF7-S, AIW 8500DV Cat4.5 MMC9.0, Corsair 3200LLPT |

I am having the same problem with my AIW-9600XT. The registry fix, and the fix suggested on ATI's site didn't help.
I just sent an annoyed report to ATI. They've known about this for a very long time (just look at the history of this topic), and haven't bothered to fix it.
In my experience, with this card, and with a prior card, ATI's software tends to be of poor quality. Seems like they're relying on their hardware experts, and don't care to get the software right. Long term, a very stupid approach.
IF ATI IS LISTENING: PLEASE HIRE SOME MORE QA STAFF!!! |

I have never had this problem with the numerous AIWs I have tested.
Could be something else causing the problem. _________________ Owner & Administrator

OMG! I had played around with this, gone back and forth with ATI, searched other forums, and lately was looking for some software to replace Guide Plus. I'll also say that while I have striped my computer down to parts I have always been hesitant about making changes in the Registry. I made my first change and couldn't be happier.
My heartfelt thanks for this solution! |

Just a quick note to be added to this thread.
Have the 9600XT and have been suffering through this. I suspect that the registry change above has remedied this but did note something I have not seen yet in this thread.
This does not seem to be a Gemstar issue. I say this becuase I installed with default setting. One of the results was that the ati tv integrated with Internet Explorer. When I try to use that tv window while surfing, I lose my mouse the same. I am using ATI TV 8.8 and seems to be this that is the culprit..
This registry change has so far remedied the problem in both locations. Quite simply....this registry change is changing the default display size in ATI TV. Even more evidence as to the cuprit.
