|

Hey all, I have been thinking, and been bored.
While my monitor and NIC card are away being fixed, I have thought of a new project for myself.
A custom wooden case.
Now I know that I am not skilled enough to fashion drive cages and all, but I have come up with an idea I am confident I could make work. I would savage the drive cages, and back panel, and build the wooden bezel, side panels and all. Here is the case I'm looking at chopping up: Link

Cheap, and it comes with a "400 watt PSU". Now, I have a decent PSU, so that would be useless to me, unless I decided to go with the Peltier route. (I might). In that case, it'd be very useful so that I wouldn't have to risk frying my main power supply.
My main question is, how do-able do you think this is, and do you think that I would come across any serious problems
PS: Have many hardware tools (Dremel, Saw, Hacksaw, drill, screwdrivers, torch, soldering iron, multimeter, etc.) so shouldn't be an issue.. |

Shouldn't be an issue with at least 4 case fans and watercooling. _________________ MSI Neo2 685PE, P4 2.4C, 512 PC 3200 El Cheapo, AIW 9800 Pro, SB Audigy 2 Platinum, Seagate 7200RPM 80 GB, WD 7200 RPM 120 GB, LiteOn DVD Burner, Sony 52x CD Rom, Hardcano 9, IDE drawer, Aero 7+ |

Have finished tentative plan.

I am goign to create a plexiglass enclosure for the drive rack (i have my hard drives in there via ide drawers and fan controller). This will be fed via duct in the back with 80mm filter fan. I love the look of the duct. I assume the excess air will be able to escape through slots. Two fans on the left and the right on both the front and the back. The top will have a cut beveled glass top. All edges will be covered in brass. (I can't saw very well and it looks cool anyways. Am considering including watercooling inside, or building another case for that to minimize risks and increase performance. Dark mahogany stain with brass screws and other hardware.
How does it sound thus far _________________ MSI Neo2 685PE, P4 2.4C, 512 PC 3200 El Cheapo, AIW 9800 Pro, SB Audigy 2 Platinum, Seagate 7200RPM 80 GB, WD 7200 RPM 120 GB, LiteOn DVD Burner, Sony 52x CD Rom, Hardcano 9, IDE drawer, Aero 7+ |
