I just wanted to share with you all, the passing of a dearly loved Asus Geforce FX 5900 ultra. It gave its life in the name in the name of upgrading. Sometime during the install of Tweakmonster ram sinks and a Swiftech GPU waterblock, it gave up the ghost.
I found that fact during the reinstall of the system when the power button was pushed the system tried to boot but then came the rapid beeping from the system speaker. Bottom line tried a different vid card system posted fine. I was going to try a different HSF on the gpu but I would have to remove one of the ram sinks. Well in the attemp to remove said sink the memory chip came off with it. So R.I.P. dear video card.

Woah man sorry, thats got to suck. What are you using/getting for the replacement?

At the moment I am using a MSI gf fx 5600 256meg.
I think that for a replacement I am going to be getting a leadtec 5950 with vivo

enjoy your leadtek. their vivo's are awesome along with their quality of manufacturing. you won't be let down by them.

the service was held about 7:20 this morning. But on a good note I was able to salvage the ram sinks. I tried freezing, that didnt work. I tried heating, that worked as long as you pried from underneath it would pop right off. So the $20 was saved in the ram sinks but the $390 was lost in the vid card. Lesson learned. Now onto the 5950 may be picking that up this evening.
