Please help !!!
I'm trying to reinstall Win98 on SONY Desktop. It didn't work correctly and I decided to format C: and to reinstall OS.
1. The problem is: after loading from FDD or CD-reanimator, SONY don't read any CD-ROM. While loading from FDD it recognises CD-ROM, DVD, load all drivers for cd and dvd, but in NC it sees only A: and B: (floppy both). When loading from cd or C: ( I have 1 hdd- 30 Gb C: 1 logic disk - 8 Gb, D: - 2 logic disk 21Gb). it sees A: B: C: D: E:. But don't read any CD at all.
2. How can I change Boot sequense in BIOS ? While loading, DEL is not working ! When name SONY appears on the screen if you push ESC then it asks SELECT BOOT DEVICE:
1. Maxtor
2. Pioneer DVD ROM
3. SONY CD RW
4. Floppy
5. SCSI Device. [/b][/i]

Doesn't the Vaio come with a Restore CD that you put in the CD drive and reboot and it will reinstall everything again?

my brother had a problem with his sony also. It's a P3 500Mhz VAIO..... somehow he screwed it up and now my computer just shows a blank screen saying ------Invlid system disk. Replace the disk, and then press any key. i tried booting with the provided cd's like the system reinstall and the software programs. but the computer recognized as a incompatable cd, saying it wasn't the proper system software. Now it's just sitting in the closet now. i really haven't done much about it now. thinking about a fresh install since it's os is win 98 to win2000pro. but i'm not sure about it.

Thank you for your reply.
I've managed to reinstall my system. Somedoby !!!!! ( I mean my friend, who owned this SONY VAIO or somebody else) was very smart and copied WIN98 to HDD. HDD has 2 logic disks. I've formated C:/ and left all information on D:/, where after long-long digging in I/ve found WIN98 setup.exe !
But the problem still remains

How can I change BIOS setup ? How can I switch the second HDD to the system ??

Do a search to see how you can enter the Sony BIOS.

It should be on google or something.
