|
|
| Well the other day i got myself into a dilly of a pickle, in school, my friend had his computer logged on so i went in and made myself an admin account, and changed his admin account to a limited. Then ironicly my password doesnt work so i cannot login anymore, and he needs to get back admin rights. And when you reinstall xp without formatting (trying to not lose any saved data) it doesn wipe the xp user accounts. I was wondering if this would work. If i went into dos and deleted the /Windows/ folder, then did a reinstall xp do you think this would work? Any help would be appreciated! |

just one quick question before you try to delete or reformat. is the password case sensitive? try it with caps lock on and off if u haven't done so already. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

yeah, i figured you would have checked that.
can u make a new account and give it admin privilages? can you delete the admin's user folders? i suppose it would work if u did it the way u specified but i don't know how much you would lose (everything in the windows folder). i hope one of these tips does some good. _________________ JayDubya aka JW Jay JD ^> ﺵ |

hey, i was running over some old threads and it looks like i found a solution to give u admin rights temporarily w/ a win200 boot cd and using the recovery console.

There are utils out there that you can copy to a floppy disk, boot up the computer with the floppy, and then reset the administrator password (or any local account password). I've tried them in the past, and they have worked very well for me. Below is a link to one of them...
