In-Win Allure PC Chassis Review @ OverclockersHQ

Posted by Nathan @ 1:48 PM (EDT)

In the world of product review some sites pick and choose what they want to review. OverclockersHQ is not one of those sites we take it all because our main focus is appealing to everyone not select groups. This makes it difficult to market the site but on the other hand we review things we normally wouldn`t choose for ourselves. Sometimes we end up liking the product we normally wouldn`t touch with a 10 foot pole. Today I am going to be reviewing the least manly case I have ever seen. If I were to ever sport this case at a lan party I would be promptly B*slapped and laughed at. I got this case for my wife but for all intents and purposes I was impressed and you will see why. Let’s check out the In0Win Allure PC Chassis a little closer:

SanDisk 16GB SDHC Netbook Memory Card @ Legit Reviews

Posted by Nathan @ 1:47 PM (EDT)

"If you were an early adapter of a netbook computer, you have likely found that the storage space available on your netbook to be inadequate. Many of the Asus Eee PC 700 and 900 netbooks shipped with just 4GB Solid State Drives (SSDs) inside, which doesn't last long at all in this age of digital media. Since these netbook models don't use or offer a traditional 2.5" notebook storage drive slot, the expansion options for increasing storage space are very limited. In case you are wondering, the 4GB SSD that comes in the ASUS Eee PC 900 and many other models is soldered on, so there is no possible way to upgrade or change it. That means you have two choices; you can either add in another SSD by opening the system, find the unused Mini PCIe slot and installing a PCI Express SSD, or for those that don't feel comfortable opening the netbook, you can beef up the storage space by placing a SDHC card into the Secure Digital slot on the side of the netbook. SanDisk really liked the latter of these two options and re-branded a couple of their regular Class 2 speed rated SDHC cards as Netbook SDHC cards last week. By installing a SDHC into your netbook and leaving it there as a new drive you'll expand your netbook's storage for additional videos, movies, music, large files, and more..."

Sapphire Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X @ DriverHeaven.net

“Today we’re going to be testing the Sapphire HD 4890 Vapor-X. This specific model of the 4890 slots in just above the basic card and below the Toxic edition which is clocked at slightly higher speeds. There is also an Atomic version of the card with a 1GHz core which we will be looking at shortly. Don’t be mistaken though, the Vapor-X model still has fantastic potential and is supplied with a custom cooling solution, increased clock speeds and an impressive output configuration all tied together with an attractive price tag.”

Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR Review @ Digital Trends

Posted by Nathan @ 1:45 PM (EDT)

"DSLRs are the fair-haired children of the camera business, and yet aim-and-forget models still make up 90% of all actual sales. Sure, DSLRs have humungous sensors and take high-def videos, but they're relatively affordable, an important consideration in this lovely economy. Nonetheless, point-and-shoot cameras like the F200EXR remain cheaper and have some pretty cool features including the ability to shoot at 12,800 ISO. This particular model also has new sensor technology not found on any camera. Mind you, there are a few caveats that go along with these highlights, but let's see if this new FinePix model should find a way into your pocket."

CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus Review @ OCC

Posted by Nathan @ 1:44 PM (EDT)

"From a strict performance outlook, the Hyper 212 Plus did alright not losing by much, so it's not a bad cooler. However, I feel that with what it was compared to, it could have stood up a bit better even with 3°C variance in most of the tests. Still, I was impressed by a lot with this heatsink. The versatility of it only requiring a single backplate and retention bracket while covering such a wide array of socket types (AM2, AM3, 939, 775, 1156, 1366) is what impressed me. Again, like the XT-1264 however, there are gaps between the heatpipes where heat could be trapped but on a more positive note it is good to see companies trying to get it so the heatpipes come in direct contact with the CPU die."

ICY DOCK MB881US-1S-1 @ Bjorn3D

Posted by Nathan @ 1:44 PM (EDT)

When it comes to upgrading our computers, we always seem to have left overs from your previous upgrades. One of them extra items is the HDD itself. A lot of us have moved onto bigger, badder, faster drives making our old HDD obsolete. Lot of the time there too small to be used for our main HDD's. These extra drives become a back up HDD's where we store all of our downloaded content or store our pictures, and other things. The question comes up, if we want to take some of that information from our personal computers to your friends/families computer? Flash drives work in a pinch and for small files, but what if there's a lot of information you want to show or transfer to other computers? Having to remove/install the back up drive from our computers to other computers gets annoying after a while.

ASUS EN9400GT GeForce 9400GT HDMI Video Card @ Benchmark Reviews

Posted by Nathan @ 1:43 PM (EDT)

Home Theater Personal Computers have been on the rise in recent years but most HTPC cases have a major flaw that makes them inherently tricky to deal with, their size. Some say size doesn't matter, well that may be true for some things in life but when it comes to HTPC's, if it's small it means limited air flow and thus it's cooling capabilities are limited. It also means that you just can't fit a very powerful video card inside of it. Even if you could, a bigger video card means more heat and we all know that heat is the number one enemy of all your computer components. So what if there was such a video card that would not only fit inside of a small form factor HTPC case but one that can perform well enough to meet the demands an HTPC requires all the while keeping it's cool? Sounds impossible? Maybe or maybe not. Here at Benchmark Reviews, you will find a lot of high end video ca! rd reviews just like many other review websites but not everyone is looking for a high end video card. Benchmark Reviews tests the ASUS EN9400GT GeForce 9400GT HDMI video card and puts it through a battery of frame rate tests to see just how well the 9400 GT performs and whether or not it can live up to the requirements of living inside of a HTPC case.

Noctua NH-C12P 1366 @ PureOverclock

Posted by Nathan @ 4:22 AM (EDT)

"We recently examined the Noctua NH-U12P and found it to be a very capable tower-styled cooler, posting some great results in an extremely quiet setup. Today we're testing its Noctua sibling, the NH-C12P, which offers a top-down design, with the same famous Noctua silent fan but a slimmer profile for those who may have a more cramped mid-tower case. We'll be installing the C12P on a Socket 1366 Core i7 processor to give a direct comparison between the cooling abilities of tower versus top-down. We'll also toss in a handful of other top coolers to see how the C12P performs. We have no doubts about Noctua's renowned reputation for silent computing products, so all that remains is to see if the C12P can keep an overclocked Core i7 monster under control."

Coolermaster Hyper TX3 Heatsink Review @ frostytech.com

"In all other regards Coolermaster's Hyper TX3 heatsink is a compact mid-level heatsink suitable for use on AMD socket 745/939/940/AM2/AM3 processors and Intel socket 775/1156 chips (not LGA1366 however). The Hyper TX3 heatsink weighs in at 470 grams, stands less than 140mm tall, and comes equipped with a low noise 92mm 800-2800RPM PWM fan that drives 17-54CFM according the manufacturer. The heatsink is built around three skinny 6mm diameter copper heatpipes that connect a small aluminum base to the 92x92mm tower of aluminum cooling fins."

MSI Eclipse Plus Review @ OCC

Posted by Nathan @ 4:21 AM (EDT)

"MSI has certainly delivered a great board with the Eclipse Plus, overclocking my i7 to 4GHz was fairly easy although with base clock frequencies past 200 some moderate tweaking had to be done, I even managed to get a CPU-Z at 4.5GHz. If an overclock fails, the motherboard must restart three times to clear - an annoyance but with the clear CMOS button near the PS/2 ports users can easily reset the BIOS and continue overclocking. The BIOS has plenty of options, and worked without a hitch minus a small glitch that I overcame with some work and CMOS clearing, but was likely due to (possibly unstable) overclocking runs. The memory voltage was being loaded at 1.2V rather than 1.6V, and a few other anomalies. Memory support only goes up to 1333MHz, with 1600MHz being possible through overclocking although higher is possible - it worked fine in testing although XMP support may have had a tiny bit of trouble. MSI finally solidified the color scheme to black and blue, removing the heinous copper heat sinks that stood out like sore thumbs and alternatively used matching heat sinks with metal casings with MSI's logos and created a much more serious looking board!"

Cresyn CS-HP500 Folding HI-FI Headphones Review @ Tweaknews

Posted by Nathan @ 4:16 AM (EDT)

"With most new product introductions on the market, usually the first generation is a prototype which they then improve on and then release a better product after they have ironed out all the design bugs. But with Cresyn and their CS-HP500, they definitely buck that trend. With exceptional audio and build quality coupled with a foldable design and comfort, the CS-HP500 can easily be summed up as a safe buy for people needing a good set of foldable headphones that won't break the bank."

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus @ LanOC Reviews

Posted by Nathan @ 4:13 AM (EDT)

Yesterday I took a look at Cooler Masters Hyper TX-3 entry level heatsink and was surprised considerably by its performance and value. Today I will be following that review by taking a look at what I can only call its older brother the Hyper 212 Plus due to the Hyper 212 Plus being the same design only larger. The Hyper 212 has been around for some time providing great performance in a mid range price. With the updated Hyper 212 Plus they have most likely updated the performance along with the added compatibility for the upcoming Lynnfield or i5 CPU later this year. I plan to put the updated version to the test and find out how it compares to a range of different heatsinks.

Scythe Mugen 2 CPU Cooler @ Pro-Clockers

Posted by Nathan @ 4:13 AM (EDT)

Today's review sample was originally a pretty good cooler in its earlier days. The Mugen cooler was a favorite of many reviewers that had the pleasure of reviewing it. Performance was right there with the Noctua NH-U12P, Tuniq Tower 120 and many others we regarded as very good coolers. However, the new version is not only compatible with the new Intel i7 processor, but is heavier, taller and comes with a better performing cooling fan. Is it enough to put it at the top of the list with the likes of the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme and the new Zalman CNPS 9900 LED? We shall see.

Silverstone LC10B-E HTPC Case @ Benchmark Reviews

Home Theater PCs continue to gain popularity, particularly as more television networks are pushing their content over the web. They're also a great platform for gaming, watching Blu-Ray movies, running a custom DVR, and centralizing media storage. For some of these tasks, a low-power Atom system might be sufficient, but for gaming and processing high definition content, most consumers will want a little more horsepower. That's where a quality HTPC chassis can make a big difference. With room for full-size ATX components, seven hard drives, and five fans, the SilverStone LC10B-E that Benchmark Reviews is covering today should fit the bill.

Cooler Master Hyper TX-3 @ LanOC Reviews

Running a expensive high end heatsink like the v10 or even the v8 is not feasible for everyone due to space or financial reasons. Also as crazy as it seems to me most people aren’t looking for the most extreme cooling solution, some are only looking for an improvement over stock cooling. Cooler Master has recognizes this and has recently released the TX-3 CPU cooler for that market. Today I will be taking a closer look at the TX-3 to see how well it compares to other heatsinks that we have tested in the past along with if it fits the needs of the entry level market that it is designed for.

Not in order to make a bigger name for themselves here in the U.S. Evercool sent us two of their newest coolers, the one we will presenting to you today is the Transformer 4. This new cooler is capable of handles all the newest processors from AMD and Intel as well as each's older processors. Enermax Eco80+ 620W PSU Review @ JonnyGURU.com

Posted by Nathan @ 2:51 PM (EDT)

In the Eco 80+ 620W, Enermax has basically taken the outstanding platform I first saw in the Liberty Eco 620W, removed the modular cabling option as well as a connector or two, and added a gimmicky "twister bearing" fan in order to target people who would rather have silence than modularity. In this respect, they did a pretty good job. Even so, a whole bunch of little things like the incomplete sleeving, somewhat high price, and the odd rail distribution have conspired against the unit. It doesn't finish out here with a recommendation, but comes pretty close. A decent but unspectacular unit from Enermax.

QNAP, purveyor of Network Attached Storage devices large and small, has just recently introduced what it's calling the world's most affordable NAS server with iSCSI. The device they speak of is the single-bay TS-119 Turbo Pro, which we've taken into our labs and scoped out across the pages to come. The device itself is just marginally larger than a typical external hard drive, and at first glance, that's exactly what it looks like. The array of LED-backlit words down the front panel and the port selection around back give away its true nature, though, as this thing is built for networks from the ground-up.

The ISGC-200 heatsink itself stands 140mm tall, weighs 470 grams and accommodates one 92mm PWM fan that spins at 600~1600 RPM. If I didn't know better I'd say the ISGC-200 was released for Intel's new socket 1156 formfactor processors, except that it isn't actually compatiblea with these chips at all. By cancelling outside noise, you don’t need to use as much volume as before to hear music and it provides an experience that feels like you are hearing the music live at a concert allowing you to feel connected to your music. In fact these new noise isolating earphones provide superior noise reduction than anything out there right now, providing a minimum of 10dB reduction of ambient noise and that number goes upwards from there from product to product and material to material.

Ikonik Ra X10 Liquid @ Bjorn3D

Posted by Nathan @ 3:18 AM (EDT)

While many of us will not be able to afford a decked out case with liquid cooling built in, some just cant help but haveing the best. This case is certainly unrivaled in one area, rad space. While the Thermaltake Sword M has a built in rad, the X10 Liquid has twin rads, with four 80mm fans on each. This is right inbetween a triple and quad 120mm radiator. As anyone with a triple rad knows, it blows off a lot of heat. These rads should be the same, and may even have an advantage. According to Ikonik these rads are of hihger quality, similar to what is used on car radiators.

"With so many gadgets using USB these days, just about everyone can benefit from a product like this. It's an inexpensive, practical, and stylish way to add an extra four USB ports to any system. Thermaltake V9 Black Edition Case Review @ Virtual-Hideout

Posted by Nathan @ 2:51 AM (EDT)

“The Thermaltake V9 Black Edition was designed to be quite a windstorm, but also to be very quiet because no one wants the sound of a box fan sitting next to them. You'll immediately notice the huge 230mm intake fan located on the left side panel. This is positioned to blow cool air directly onto the entire motherboard area, including CPU, memory, graphics, etc. This will be especially crucial when building a high performance dual graphics rig, and/or overclocking your components. Add to this the same huge 230mm exhaust fan located directly above the motherboard/CPU area, but instead this time it's on top of the chassis. This is designed to suck the hot air being expelled from the red hot CPU/Chipset/Memory area of the motherboard. So cool air in the side, it gets hot and exhausts right out the top. A potent combination of airflow it is and a must for today's ultra fast gaming rigs.”

NZXT PANZERBOX Review @ OCC

Posted by Nathan @ 2:51 AM (EDT)

"The NZXT Panzerbox offers a wide arrange of features and holds its own in cooling. For a small ATX form factor case, the Panzerbox excels in ease of use, dominant features and pleasing looks. From top to bottom, the case is coated all back, and made from pure aluminum. It accommodates up to three fans, two being massive 190mm fans, sports a removable motherboard tray and is the perfect size for anyone looking to buy a mid to high end case, HTPC, and especially the LAN gamer. One of the best parts, is its weight. NZXT states its 50% lighter than most ATX form factor cases and surely lives up to its word. I did run across some small problems, but nothing too diminishing. One problem was the material used for the power button and reset button. The case is almost to perfect with grade A quality aluminum, but it seems NZXT slacked off a bit on the two most used buttons. I was also not too fond of the positioning of the power supply during installation. With such a small case, I can understand there needs to be some cable management, so I'm sure any average Joe can spend a good 15 minutes routing their cables to improve this slight flaw. The last issue I have with the case is the noise. With such high rated CFM fans, noise is expected, yet tolerant."

Recycled PC: Old Computers with a New Purpose @ Benchmark Review

Posted by Nathan @ 2:50 AM (EDT)

Frequently, we find that new technological breakthroughs make old hardware that was just fine seem quaint. Be it a race toward higher clock speeds, faster front side buses, multiple cores, etc, computers become disused and replaced. Green attitudes have dissuaded people from tossing out components that are, for all intents and purposes, quite harmful to the environment. Moreover, current operating systems are becoming more power hungry let alone the software that runs on them. What's interesting about these computers is that in many cases they're perfectly useable. Here at Benchmark Reviews, we'll provide our list of uses for recycled computers.

CPU3D Review: HIS Radeon HD 4890 Turbo (1Gb GDDR5)

Posted by Nathan @ 1:37 PM (EDT)

I have a feeling that the HIS Radeon HD 4890 Turbo could do pretty well in our tests. It should perform better than its predecessor, the Radeon HD 4870, and as far as going against the Geforce GTX 285 ... well it shouldn't be far off.

Kingwin KW-01 2.4g Wireless Mouse Review @ OverclockersHQ

Posted by Nathan @ 1:37 PM (EDT)

PC peripherals have come a long way since the first 2 button no scroll wheel mice came on the market. Why do we need more buttons wheels and doo-dads? Because everyone knows the more buttons you have the cooler you are. Ok maybe we’ll go a little more scientific on this one. Mice are needed for a broader range of things then they were when they were first designed. With applications like gaming the need for multiple DPI and CPI settings are needed for optimal control and speed combination. The recent boom of media based PC coming on the market also made things hard for the little old 2 button ball mouse. Kingwin has addressed both of these needs in their KW-01 wireless mouse’s design so let’s get a good look at it and see how well it performed.

XFX GeForce 275 GTX 896MB DDR3 Core Edition Review @ Motherboards.org

Posted by Nathan @ 1:36 PM (EDT)

From a performance point of view the GeForce GTX 275 from XFX performs exactly as specified from a standard GeForce GTX 275 card. The card outperforms the Radeon HD 4890 in a number of the applications as well in a head to head comparison. The inclusion of Far Cry 2, adds to the value of the card as most video cards do not come with a game. If you buy the card from Newegg you also get a copy of Call of Duty World at War. Two games will give you plenty of play time in full DirectX 10.0 beauty as Far Cry 2 uses DX10.0 Pixel Shaders throughout the game. PhysX games will look and play like nothing else with the GeForce series as the cards from ATI do not support it.
