iMainGo 2 Portable Speaker Review @ TestFreaks

Posted by Nathan @ 12:30 PM (EDT)

"Up on the review block today I’ve got an interesting little product called the iMainGo 2, and it’s a portable speaker system for your iPod, iPhone, Zune or most any other portable audio player. The iMainGo 2 though is much more than just a set of speakers it’s actually a case that will protect your MP3 player. I’ve been using the iMainGo 2 for over a week now and I really like it, the audio quality is excellent, and overall the product is well made, producing big sound from a little set of speakers."

Logitech G9x Laser Mouse @ LanOC Reviews

Posted by Nathan @ 12:29 PM (EDT)

When it comes to mice and keyboards gaming or otherwise there is one company everyone recognizes. Logitech is by far the largest peripheral manufacture in the world. In fact December of last year they produced their Billionth mouse, that’s a lot of mice! They have also made a name for themselves with the G series of gaming peripherals including the popular g15 and g5. Today I have the chance to take a look at the G9x, Logitech’s most recently released gaming mouse. I should have high hopes considering its family, but I can’t help to be a little unsure. I was a big fan of the g5’s shape and the G9x doesn’t resemble the g5 at all, so who knows.

OCZ Agility Series SATA II 2.5" 120GB SSD @ Pro-Clockers

Posted by Nathan @ 12:29 PM (EDT)

OCZ is one of those companies who looks out for everyone. No matter if you are a hard core gamer with lots of money to buy extreme gear or a budget minded individual that has to make every dollar count, they have you in mind. With this way of thinking, OCZ have released several classes of solid state drives ranging from the Solid series to the Vertex EX. Our first review of a SSD will consist of a model from their mainstream line up: Agility. The Agility is based around a Indilinx controller backed by Elpida 64MB cache chip. These two components gives the Agility its performance numbers. What keeps the Agility a low cost alternative to other solid state drives with similar number is the inexpensive NAND modules used. But just how inexpensive is the Agility? Just how fast is the Agility? Read on and find out.

Cooler Master Hyper N520 CPU Cooler Review @ Verdis Reviews

With the tower format cooler generally accepted as the best current heatsink design architecture, the variations are often with the base, heatpipes and fan configurations. Previous Cooler Master designs such as the V8 and V10 are pretty extreme with additional heatsinks sprouting from all parts making them into monster coolers.

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler Review @ Tweaktown

Posted by Nathan @ 4:31 PM (EDT)

Rethinking a few things after the original Hyper 212 was released, Cooler Master saw the need to take the 212 back to the drawing board and see what they could do to offer a better solution. Not only is the actual cooler a bit different this time around, but they went with another style of fan. They also got together with the engineers to develop an all new mounting hardware, which are welcomed changes in my eyes.

Seasonic S12D 750 W Power Supply Review @ Hardware Secrets

Posted by Nathan @ 4:30 PM (EDT)

"Seasonic M12D 750 W (SS-750EM) was one of the best-performing power supplies we've reviewed to date, presenting only high-end components and a very high efficiency thanks to the DC-DC converter used on its secondary. Seasonic released now a more affordable version from this power supply, called S12D (SS-750HT), which the main difference is not coming with a modular cabling system. Let's see if this is the only difference between them."

ASUS MATRIX GTX285 Review @ OCC

Sparkle Calibre X265 GeForce GTX 260 896MB video card review @ Elite Bastards

Posted by Nathan @ 12:09 PM (EDT)

This little bit of software (which sets itself to run at start-up by default) allows you to choose between three clock speed profiles for your card - Standard Mode, which utilises NVIDIA's reference clocks, Overclock Mode, which uses the factory overclocked speeds we mentioned earlier, and Green Mode, which attempts to save power by reducing clock speeds below NVIDIA's reference clocks (to a core clock of 400MHz, shader clock of 800MHz and memory clock of 300MHz on this occasion). The application can also monitor GPU temperatures and fan speeds as well as reporting on clock speeds, and switching between performance profiles is as simple as clicking the option you require and confirming the selection.

Today we review the 24GB Wintec Industries FileMate SolidGO 24GB ExpressCard Ultra SSD.”

MSI Wind U123-003US Review @ Digital Trends

Posted by Nathan @ 12:08 PM (EDT)

"People buy netbooks for two reasons: They're extremely portable and they're pretty darned cheap. The MSI Wind U123 satisfies both criteria and throws in a bonus: Incredibly long battery life. We tested battery life by playing (and in this case, by replaying) a movie (Boogie Nights) that we ripped from DVD, encoded to MPEG-4, and copied to the computer's hard drive. It's a good thing we enjoy this movie, because we were able to watch it three times before the Wind's nine-cell Lithium-Ion battery finally petered out. That's right: This little device ran for a hair more than six hours."

MSI 785GM-E65 @ Bjorn3D

Posted by Nathan @ 12:07 PM (EDT)

The biggest enhancement for the 785G would be its updated graphic controller base on the HD 4200. Most noticeably, improvements over the older 780G chipset would be the UVD 2.0 support for full MPEG-2/VC-1/H.264 hardware acceleration, DVI and HDMI output, and HDCP encoding. The chipset also supports DirectX 10.1 so it would be fully ready for Windows 7. Something unique about the new chipset would be the dual-stream PiP technology on Blu-ray 1.1 playback with multi-monitor capability. The new chipset also made an upgrade to HDMI 1.3 from 1.2.

Intel X25-M Gen2 34nm 160GB @ ocaholic.ch

Posted by Nathan @ 5:08 PM (EDT)

Under the codename "Postville" Intel was developing the second generation of their already successful X25-SSD-Series. Now Intel ships the X25-m with 34 nm NAND Flash. The advantages a shrink comes with are quite predictable: lower manufacturing costs per Gigabyte, lower power consumption and a higher storage density. Furthermore Intel also overworked the firmware and therefore we can expect a bit more performance and hopefully the drive won't be affected by filling it up to 100 percent of its capacity.

Cooler Master Elite 310 Review @ OCC

Posted by Nathan @ 5:07 PM (EDT)

"These results where right where I expected them, with a little surprise on the hard drive temperature, where it outperformed both comparison cases. I didn't expect this due to the appearance of the front bezel; there isn't any perforations in the plastic and only a little bit of perforation between the blue accent and the plastic area, as noted in the Closer Look pages. I didn't expect a lot of air to flow through the small surface area of the opening for the front 120mm intake. The higher chipset temperatures are most likely due to the lower position of the side panel fan, which didn't push enough air over the chipset heatsink."

nVidia GTX 260 SLI Article @ OCIA.net

Posted by Nathan @ 5:06 PM (EDT)

"Last summer the nVidia GT200 core cards, the GTX 260 and GTX 280, were relatively new and expensive. Now, more than a year later, the GT200 core is still nVidia's top-dog, but the cost of entry to this level of performance has dropped significantly. With the advent of newer, faster cards such as the GTX 275 and 285, the now lowly but revamped, die-shrunk 260 can be had for well under the $200 mark, or even less for the original 65nm, 192sp core cards. It's one of these cards, basically identical to our original EVGA GTX 260 from last year, that we've got from our friends over at Geeks.com for comparison today. Join me as I take a look at a modern SLI implementation and see if two cards really are better than one."

Sony PlayStation 3 Slim Review @ Digital Trends

"Nearly three years after the introduction of the original budget-busting PlayStation 3, Sony has put both the system and its price tag on a diet. The appropriately named PlayStation 3 Slim shaves over an inch off the width of the previous system while keeping the same processing power intact. Sony also drops the price by $100 from the previous model, and bumps storage up from 80GB to 120GB. But the PlayStation's distinctive piano black shell also disappears, along with the ability to run third-party operating systems. Has Sony cut too deep and turned the caviar of the console world into a tuna fish sandwich? Let's have a closer look and find out."

DeepCool Killer Whale Heatsink Review @ Frostytech.com

Posted by Nathan @ 8:08 PM (EDT)

"DeepCool's Killer Whale heatsink is a top-down cooler built around two critical things. It has a hefty solid copper heat spreader (base) onto which six 6mm diameter heatpipes have been soldered, and a large and potentially very quiet 48mm thick 120mm PWM fan that spins at 1000-1800RPM. The fan moves approximately 78CFM, while generating at most 53.5 dBA and at least a whisper quiet 34.8 dBA. The Killer Whale stands 140mm tall and weighs a hefty 900 grams, but if you were to replace the fan with a more compact 120mm model that height could be as little as 92mm + fan thickness."

TrickleStar PC TrickleSaver Energy Saving Device Review @ OCIA.net

Posted by Nathan @ 2:18 PM (EDT)

"Last year in the hot summer heat, during the peak of power usage for most of the US, OCIA.net reviewed the P3 Kill-A-Watt electricity meter. This nifty little device earned our Seal of Approval for its usefulness in monitoring exactly how much power our electronic devices consume. However, manually plugging and unplugging devices or having to crawl under your desk to flip the switch on a power strip can become tedious or at the very least, inconvenient for most people, just to save a few bucks on our electric bill. Today I have two new products for review from a company named TrickleStar that address these issues. It's the PC TrickleSaver and accompanying accessory, the TrickleSwitch."

Silverstone SUGO SG05 @ Bjorn3D

We've recently have tested a few really big computer cases like the Ikonik Ra x10 and the In Win X-Fighter. These cases are perfect for when you want to put it tons of components in it. The downside to these cases are they take up a lot of space. You definitely won't put them onto a table and as they are standing on the floor they are prone to get clogged with dust and other filth that we can find on the floor.

Thermaltake Massive23 ST Notebook Cooler Reviewed @ iGadget Life

Posted by Nathan @ 2:11 PM (EDT)

"Today for review I’ve got another Thermaltake product, this one is called the Massive 23 ST, it’s a notebook cooler, and as you can gather by its name it’s big. The Massive ST features a body made of plastic and metal, making it lightweight for portability, but in the center of it is a 200mm cooling fan to make sure your laptop or netbook stays nice and cool. I’ve got the Acer Aspire one D250 and I noticed that after using it for a while it can get quite hot, so I decided to test out the Massive 23 ST with it to see if it can help keep it cool…"

VisionTek HD 4890 OC @ Bjorn3D

Posted by Nathan @ 2:09 PM (EDT)

Despite the rumors going around, VisionTek has not filed for bankrupcy. In fact they are doing pretty good, and have decided to send us their new 4890 OC edition to review in Crossfire. VisionTek did not only overclock the card, they also included a aftermarket heat sink to go with it. There are many other OC edition cards out there, but none quite like this one. With a core speed of 950 MHz, this card really means busness. Today we will put this card to the ultimate test, not only comparing it to another stock clocked 4890, but also pairing it with the other 4890 to produce one of the ultimate Crossfire configurations.
