Wolf King Ultimate Gaming Pad Review @ OCIA.net

Posted by Nathan @ 4:38 PM (EDT)

"The product up for review today is made by Wolf King and is called the Ultimate FPS Warrior Game Pad, or just Warrior for short. It's not meant to take the place of your keyboard but rather clusters most of the left-side keyboard controls into a circular pad for easier accessibility. If you're looking to replace your keyboard altogether check out the Timber Wolf which incorporates the circular pad with a standard notebook-sized keyboard."

Digit-Life Review: Pentium E2140/2160 And Athlon X2 BE-2350

Posted by Nathan @ 4:37 PM (EDT)

"AMD and Intel recently introduced three new low cost processors. Intel decided to resurrect its Pentium brand for use on two new low-cost parts; the Intel Pentium E2140 and Pentium 2160. AMD, on the other hand, released a new Athlon part, the Athlon X2 BE-2350. Although these processors are positioned at somewhat different segments of the market, we believe it is still appropriate for these two processors to be compared against each other because they have a lot in common."

Jetway Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB Graphics Review @ MVKTech

"Jetway contributes and delivers the reliable system foundations of efficiency for the platform of global modern IT industry today and beyond. Their mission is to provide innovative IT solutions that empower their customers reaching their full potential with scalable high performance computing solutions. At last, that is the least you can say about the Radeon HD 2000 series. It took AMD, the former ATI quite some time to get the two companies together and back on track, but they have done it. We expected it much sooner, and with high expectations and those are a bit disappointing. The new high-end Radeon HD 2900 XT accelerator from ATI has been released and widely available."

PC Apex Guide // How to Clean Up After a Coolant Leak

Posted by Nathan @ 4:26 PM (EDT)

"Even though your coolant may be more or less non-conductive when you bought it, over time it will pick up particles from your cooling system (dust, dirt, impurities, algae growth, and even microscopic copper/aluminum particles from your waterblocks) and the non-conductiveness becomes not so non-conductive over time. That is why it is so important to change your coolant on a regular basis. Over time it WILL become more conductive than when you first bought it. The longer you wait, the more conductive the coolant can become... If a leak occurs during a lapse in maintenance (when the coolant is most likely to be conductive) you have a higher chance of your components being damaged."

Zalman ZM-NC1000 Ultra Quiet Notebook Cooler Review @ Tweaknews.net

Posted by Nathan @ 6:19 AM (EDT)

"The ZM-NC1000 is a very well built piece of notebook cooling hardware. But what it gains in performance, it loses in bulk and weight. If you are in the market for a cooling option for the road, then just keep on searching. This big boy weighs in at over 2.5lbs an when you add that kind of weight to an already loaded laptop bag, then expect a chore when you are lugging this around an airport. Add in the rather stiff price, and Zalman is really painted themselves in a premium niche corner."

Jetart Xpanel DT5000 Review @ Motherboards.org

Posted by Nathan @ 6:14 AM (EDT)

The Jetart Xpanel DT5000 has many things going for it and one glaring thing going against it. As I said earlier, I do not understand why the accessory cables need to be routed through a PCI slot instead of being plugged directly onto the motherboard. Personally, this is something I'd like to see them address. Other than that, the only other thing I can think of that I'm sure some people would want to see is the ability to adjust the front panel light. Not that it's very bright or anything, but I know people like to be able to dim any light that is coming from their PC if they feel like it. Aside from those issues, I liked the DT5000 a lot and would recommend it to anyone looking for a front panel that monitors three different temps and fan speeds and can keep a HDD cool.

Corsair Nautilus 500 Review @ Corsair

Corsair takes out all the guess work and gives you a rock solid item that offers very good performance. I was also shocked how easily it beat out the Big Typhoon. If you run multiple fans at full speed then this unit will give you a much quieter experience.

Galaxy GeForce 8600 GTS OC Videocard Review @ Elite Bastards

Posted by Nathan @ 6:12 AM (EDT)

"Compared to the GeForce 8600 GT part we looked at from Galaxy recently, this particular GeForce 8600 GTS SKU is a little more conservative with regard to its overclocks. For starters, the 256MB of memory on-board hasn't been touched at all, leaving it at the stock speed of 1GHz, while the G84 core sported by this card gets just a 45MHz boost, leaving it clocked at 720MHz over the reference speed of 675MHz. This also makes for a change in the clock speed of the core's Stream Processors, up to 1,584MHz from the 1,450MHz of the stock part."

This particular model is black with blue lighting in the front which makes for a nice contrast. The case is also available with a silver finish for those who are not into black. The front of the case is made of plastic but NZXT gave it the look of brushed aluminum which is very nice. The sides of the case, as well as the chassis, are made of a thin, sturdy steel. Overall the case is fairly lightweight and is easy to move around. The Front Blue led is securely mounted inside the door; if you give your case some loving abuse, you don't have to worry about this case falling apart."

The XLR8 memory has a nice look to them that has a strong resemblance to that of Corsair's Dominator line. DH Review: GMC Noblesse AVC-M1

GMC is perhaps the only manufacturer that focused entirely on HTPC cases during the past few years. A few weeks ago we had a look at the Noblesse AVC-S1 HTPC case from GMC, a very small and narrow case, meant to fit narrow spaces and match mini Hi-Fi systems. Today we will take a look at yet another HTPC case from GMC, the AVC-M1. The AVC-M1 is similar to the S1 but considerably taller and doesn’t need a proprietary PSU, a short cooler and does not limit the user to low profile expansion cards. Hopefully GMC didn’t repeat any of the other mistakes as well.

"GRAW 2's gameplay is cast in nice visuals - capable, but nothing spectacular. Swedish developer GRIN - the same team behind the original GRAW - use their in-house GRIN Diesel engine (get it?). The engine has been upgraded to version 7, and requires a Direct3D 9.0c-capable graphics card with Shader Model 2.0 capabilities. In other words, there's nothing new here, and this looks like a game I've seen a dozen times since 2004. However, there's a wide range of possibilities using the same set of hardware and software requirements, and GRAW 2 is a good example of a D3D9.0c title."

The case market has expanded quite a lot in the past few years; no longer is it adequate for a good case to just be well-built. Not only does it have to look good, but it has to provide a multitude of features such as good cooling, ease-of-access, and a tool-less design if people will be willing to part with their money for it. Nokia E90 Communicator Review @ Elite Bastards

Posted by Nathan @ 2:45 PM (EDT)

"Communication in the 21st century is complex, and sometimes it's a full-time job to communicate with your contacts and keep up with your social or business networks. It is impossible to stay at the office 24/7 and sometimes you have to even take some work home. How are you going to manage these communication issues when you're not at the office? A mobile phone you say? And a laptop as well? That's the usual way to go about things, but there is only so much you can do with just a mobile phone, and laptops can be annoying to carry around. But what if you could have your computer and mobile in the same device? Then it wouldn't really matter where you are and you can have everything in a relatively small package.
Nokia's solution to this problem is their Nokia Communicator series, and the newest kid on the block in this range is the E90 Communicator."

"With DirectX 10 games emerging onto the gaming scene, gamers are finding themselves in need of a video card that can support the new technology. Not many of us want to break the bank just to be able to play these new games, so instead of getting the high end cards, we'd get a mainstream performance card such as the 8600 GTS. Let's find out how well the Foxconn Geforce 8600 GTS card competes against some of the most popular cards on the market today. Does this card hold the performance you're looking for without burning a hole in your pocket? Join us as we examine this card."

Mvix MV-5000U Multimedia Center Review @ ThinkComputers.org

Posted by Nathan @ 5:07 AM (EDT)

“Every now and then, a little-known company comes out of the ether and delivers a product that is revolutionary. Mvix believes its MV-5000U media-playing hard enclosure is a candidate for these laurels. Once the end-user installs a hard drive in the MV-500U, he or she can use it for storage or, when combined with a television, as a portable media player (one can even put it in a car!). However, the MV-5000U isn't all it's cracked up to be, but shows promise. Read on to find out why.”

Transformers PC Game Review @ GamePyre

Posted by Nathan @ 5:07 AM (EDT)

It really does pain me to give something bearing the Transformers name a bad score, but I can't lie about this game. Sure, you get to see a couple of Transformers that aren't in the movie, but that doesn't make up for the absolutely horrible controls. Even if you are a total Transformers nut, I'd suggest waiting till the price comes down. Save yourself a few bucks and go see the movie again instead, it will be a better use of you time.

Xilence Power 600w Gaming Edition Review @ XSReviews

Posted by Nathan @ 5:06 AM (EDT)

"Silence is something that many require when it comes to PSUs and many companies have begun to cash in on it with buzz words like "Silent" and "Whisper Quiet" being placed all over packaging. Today however, I have a company that has "silence" in their name, well, sort of. Here with me is the Xilence Power 600w Gaming Edition. Well, let's see if its Xilent and if it games well; to the test bed!"

YouGamers Latest Content: Black Mesa Interview

Posted by Nathan @ 5:05 AM (EDT)

"YouGamers: Can you describe the process of the creation of a level?

Rose: Because of the improved scale that Source offers, we are able to make areas of the facility more to a real-world scale, because we have more room and more power to work with. This is evident in areas like Surface Tension, which could, in terms of scale measurement, be on par with a real-world facility of a similar nature. Levels have the most leeway in terms of relating to their original counterparts, though, and that's one department where what you see in Half-Life won't necessarily always match up with Black Mesa. These changes are all being done with logic and visual quality as their backing, though, so it'll still look
damned good."

Abit IP35 Pro and AB9 QuadGT Motherboards @ HotHardware.com

Posted by Nathan @ 5:05 AM (EDT)

“The dilemma is, if you wanted a mid-range to high-end Intel powered system using an Intel-built chipset, which is the best choice? While most enthusiasts gravitate towards the latest and greatest, there is definitely something to be said for new products which are based on more mature chipsets like the 965. The kinks have been worked out, feature sets are typically stable and perform well, and they usually offer a much better experience ‘out of the box’ rather than dealing with first generation hardware and their usual driver issues and quirks.”

Foxconn 8600GTS-256 OC 700/2200 Videocard Review @ HardwareLogic

Posted by Nathan @ 5:04 AM (EDT)

The industry's abuzz about DirectX10, with nVidia's 8800GTX and Ultra videocards hogging all the attention. But not everyone has the purse for high end extravagances, so does that mean they'll be left DX10 wanting? Not if Foxconn, and their mid-range 8600GTS, have anything to say about it. Follow along as we see if a modestly spec'd DX10 card has enough muscle to handle today's games.

Zalman Z-Machine GT1000 High End Gaming Case @ Pro-Clockers

Posted by Nathan @ 5:02 AM (EDT)

Well, a while ago Zalman hit it big with the Fatality case that we had the great pleasure of reviewing. The case was damn good looking and was made as strong as any case I have ever seen before. Today we have one of their newest cases based on the Fatality unit but with some much needed improvements. The Z-Machine GT1000 advertises less and actually gives more than the Fatality case. If you haven't already done so read the article to see what we are talking about here.

XFX Fatal1ty Geforce Overclocked 7600 GT Videocard Review @ Tweaknews.net

Posted by Nathan @ 4:59 AM (EDT)

"At first I wasn't expecting much from a passively cooled and overclocked mainstream videocard. To be honest, I thought it was a recipe for product disaster. Surprisingly, this card held out just fine and in some cases surpassed my expectations by a large margin. This card packs much more punch than I would expect out of a mainstream videocard. It is stable, it is dead silent, and with proper case ventilation and cleaning shouldn't be a concern to use for a long period of time. Plus let's not forget that when placed inside a windowed case it will look great as well.."

Zonbox: The $100 Green PC of the Future @ Digital Trends

Posted by Nathan @ 4:57 AM (EDT)

"I just got to mess with an incredible $100 PC that is being compared to Apple in terms of ease of use, uses Linux as its core OS (but conceals the complexity of Linux, much like OSX conceals the complexity of UNIX), and is at the outset, a Web 2.0 device leveraging heavily its connectivity to create the Apple experience for a fraction of the cost. It does have a monthly charge of about $13, which covers the online services and allows the initial price of the PC to get down to $99, but it may reflect the future of Web 2.0 computing, and it's worth a look."

“Being an avid system exploiter, I definitely enjoy a look at something new and different. D-Tek Customs has had some pretty cool ideas from the start and continues to show improvements for simpler water cooling products that make designing their own cooling system. Sharka Computers was kind enough to send us D-Tek's latest two water cooling D-TEK FuZion and FuZion GFX water blocks which have received a pretty cool face lift. Sharka Computers is a great place to get some impressive performance hardware, so naturally it makes sense they would pick up something that can appeal and perform the way enthusiasts would expect.”

Canon EOS Rebel XTi Review @ Canonites

Posted by Nathan @ 3:56 AM (EDT)

"The Canon EOS 400D, more commonly known as the Canon EOS Rebel XTi in North America, is a single-lens reflex digital camera. Canon introduced this unique looking camera in 2006 as the successor to their EOS 350D. Canon considers the Rebel to be the best entry-level DSLR of its kind on the market. It's priced well below $1,000.00 which makes it affordable especially when the lens is included. It produces some fine images with pure, sharp colors and it's also very quiet. Canon upgraded the CMOS sensor to an impressive 10.1 megapixels. Among the other added features we get a larger continuous shooting buffer, an integrated image sensor, vibrating cleaning system and a more precise nine point auto focus system. Canon didn't stop there! They even improved the grip of the unit and gave us a nice 2.5" LCD with 230,000 pixels and a larger viewing angle which replaced an ill-conceived top status screen. The changes Canon made to the newer model has a tendency to underexpose the subject whereas the older versions overexposed."

Cooler Master Cosmos Case Review @ DVHardware

Posted by Nathan @ 3:55 AM (EDT)

Cooler Master's latest case is the Cosmos RC-1000, this case aims to offer very quiet operation and with its four big aluminum handles the design of this case definitely stands out from the crowd. The Cooler Master Cosmos case features a special airflow system, it has one intake fan one the bottom and uses three outtake fans. The firm says this creates a negative pressure effect which will draw in more cool outdoor air into the interior to keep all your components cool. Besides airflow Cooler Master also thought about soundproofing, cable management and tool-free design. In the next few pages I will discuss all of these aspects and see if it works as advertised..

Intel QX6850 Quad-Core CPU - 1333MHz FSB Review @ Tweaktown

Posted by Nathan @ 3:54 AM (EDT)

"For the most part the 266MHz (or 1066MHz quad pumped) FSB has been the big power behind the success of the Core 2, now Intel has upped this to 333MHz (or 1333MHz quad pumped).

Today we are testing out the high-end Core 2 Extreme QX6850 along with some other processors to see if the 1333MHz FSB offers a noticable performance increase over the usual 1066MHz parts."
